Update GBNC MAIN PAGE January 14, 2001 The funeral procession for Sandesh Wagle was carried out on Jan 9th at 1:00 pm at Mt. Auburn Cemetery Church, Mt. Auburn St., Cambridge. A pujari from Laxmi Temple, Framingham, carried out the Hindu ritual for about one hour. About 30 of us attended the procession. Sandesh's body was cremated the following morning, Jan 10th, at 9:00 am. His ashes were sent to his parents on Saturday, Jan 12th. At this moment, I, on the behalf of GBNC would like to thank all those people who came together during this sad period and helped in whatever way they could. First of all, Sandesh's roomates, Saroj K.C. and friends, did all the tough work, from contacting Sandesh's parents, releasing his body from the hospital to cremating his body at the end. One could only imagine the difficult week they must have had. Secondly, all the people who financially supported us, without which we could not have been able to do anything. I am overwhelmed by the prompt support that we received from the community. I would also like to thank Praladh K.C. dai for everything that he did, from bringing the pujari from the Laxmi Temple, to bringing all the small, yet necessary things to carry out the ritual in Hindu tradition, like ganga jaal, red brick, white clothes, etc. The crisis that we faced was unimaginable; however, the support that we received from the community that helped everyone of us involved was very encouraging. He was a very nice and cheerful person, giving warmth and friendship to us all. Let's all pray for peace to his soul and for strength to his family in this time of need. In order to take care of the final rites and funeral costs, we as a community need to come together and help with the finances, for which I urge all you community members. We will be collecting donations at Au Bon Pain, Harvard Square, Cambridge all day tomorrow (January 6, 2002). Please see one of the managers on duty.
