A man is born in this world and he struggles all his life trying to find this "permanent happiness". Some men seek this happiness consciously while others seek it unconsciously. It does not really matter how he seeks it - consciously or unconsciously. The important matter is he seeks it. Permanent Happiness is a state of mind where a man experiences a sense of total fulfillment. In this state, he is total, he is complete. Therefore, he experiences a mental bliss which is a peace of high order - call it a divine bliss. This is a state where his psyche is satisfied with what he is. Though fleeting, this sense of total fulfillment gives us a glimpse of permanent happiness. Consequently, he runs here and there in this world to experience this "total fulfillment" which is the cause of "permanent happiness." How can a man sustain the state of "total fulfillment" is this world full of temptations and unending desires? A man's attempt to find permanent happiness soon gets shatter and he dies lamenting he couldn't fulfill all his desires. This is the present condition of almost all men. When SLC result was announced, I ran to the nearest store to find Gorkhapatra to see if my number was listed in there. Once I found my number was there, there was no limit of my happiness. At that moment, I was experiencing "total fulfillment." There was no desires during that experience. All I experienced was happiness. I was in a complete state - a whole being. I was at peace. What a wonderful state! Soon I realized, that happiness slowly started fading away. The state of total fulfillment started converting into a state of partial fulfillment. Soon I had to figure out what next! This is not just my story. This is the story of every Nepalis who had their SLC experience. When a man understands that this whole world is finite and whatever he gains from this world is also finite, he will start wondering about the nature of this world. A man finds himself in a position where he is incapable of understanding where to look for this permanent happiness. Groping in the dark, he does what society teaches him. He follows the norms of the society. At the end, his life is taken away from him, and he leaves everything behind. This is a miserable state for all men. The problem is most men are looking this permanent happiness in the wrong place. The world is finite. And, the state of total fulfillment, which is the cause of permanent happiness, is infinite in its nature. It is infinite because it is whole and complete. It is whole and complete, therefore, it is a desire-less condition. It is a desire-less condition, hence, there is mental freedom. When there is mental freedom, mind is not attached to anything and he experiences what yogis and risis call "Atma." This Atma is peace. It is complete. It is whole. It is permanent happiness.
