The court’s decision is about Venezuelans who came to the United States in 2023 by crossing the border without permission. The previous administration gave them Temporary Protected Status (TPS). But the court made it clear that just crossing the border may help them qualify for asylum, but not for TPS. Asylum is for people who fear harm in their home country, while TPS is a special protection for people from countries with serious problems. The court also said two years is not enough to show strong ties to the community in the United States. Building real connections takes time. Two years is too short to prove that someone has become part of the community and should not be deported. I agree with Supreme Court decisions.

What is the implication of this order by the SCOTUS? They are letting DHS end the TPS while the case move through the lower court. What does that actullay mean? Are the Venezuelans losing their lawful status/EAD during that period and can be deported? Will they accumulate unlawful presence while the case go through the court? I think this decision created so many unanswered questions.
