Try west coast and east coast you have to have good GRE score also try some remote plaecs like MN,NE etc you might have chance. You have to have some background on research prof are doing and find out its not simple step by step process need to communicate well with school and faculty

 absolutely right. also u have to spend a significant amount of time looking out kind of research u wanted to do. narrow down the school number selecting the ares like either midwest, east coast, west coast, south side. it saves time. keep in mind of ur gre score if u have already taken otherwise work hard to get good gre score. it's a big deal.

study is the main thing. MN has one of the best schools in the US. UofMN. if u dare to face snow and blizzard, UofMN is good.

 narrow down your question first....what type of university you are looking for .. top notch..middle ranked..low ranked...on what research area..networking..AI..Security....what is your background..gpa ..gre score....???????
