December 12, 2011 Posted By : parakhi The chairman of Vinayak Hospital & Maternity Home based in Gongabu was caught red-handed by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) while bribing a journalist with cash Rs 40,000 and Rs 10,000 in bank cheque. Dr Govinda Gyawali was arrested by the CIAA after News24 TV journalist had complained about the bribe to the anti-corruption body. Gyawali had promised the journalist around Rs 100,000 if TV reports did not reveal the hospital's wrongdoing while conducting uterine prolapse surgeries in health camps and hospitals across the country. Nepal government provides Rs 15,000 to carry out an uterine prolapse surgery in the mountain region, Rs 13,000 in the hilly region and Rs 12,000 in the Tarai region. Vinayak hospital is suspected of misusing the funds meant for the women suffering from uterine prolapse.
