Does anybody applying for TPS has a situation like mine?? I had my BIO Metrics done on 09/15/15 and I just received a letter from USCIS saying that FBI didn't catch my fingerprint... I spent almost an hr to get the FP done and now I'm having to go back again to do it on 10/14 i'm like wtf?

I believe the fingerprint process is same for green card and TPS, so I will weigh in here. Yup, its normal to be rejected by FBI for fingerprint. USCIS let you try three times(for green card and I hope its the same for TPS), and if FBI rejects all these three, then USCIS will ask you to provide police clearance report from all states and countries you have lived after you turned eighteen. My friend's fingerprint was rejected three times for GC and she had to provide police clearance letters to USCIS.

I read somewhere that you can buy some lotion/gel , which helps to improve your fingerprint screen quality. http://ask.metafilter.com/130462/Any-tips-on-how-to-become-more-fingerprintable

Guys i need help on tps problem

when i went to biometric on 1st October office they given application form and there i have to write my receipt number .. in my I 821 there was 2 receipt number like LIN1*********1-LIN1*********2 but i have only written the last one LIN1*******2 did not received the first .it will make any problem ? what can i do?

today i checked my status with both receipt number and it says like this

Fingerprint Fee Was Received
On August 31, 2015, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status, Receipt Number LIN***********1. Our Nebraska Service Center location is working on your case. We mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

and

New Card Is Being Produced
On October 8, 2015, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number LIN1*********2, and will mail it to the address you gave us. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

is this all normal or there is any problem as one status changed which i have written on that for and other not change which i did not wrote on the form.

@Madanbahadur Ji, thank you for your clarification. Several years ago I had a misdemeanor charge of hit and run and when i consulted with my lawyer, she said to send them the court disposition record and which i did. But here is the thing, when i run a background check for myself through a cop friend of mine, it didn't show up anything and as far as I know and I can remember when i was charged with the crime at the courthouse, i don't think that they ever took my fingerprint and I believe thats why its not catching up with the FBI's database... oh well we will see what happens on the next round.. anyways, thanks once again.

PU_Hunter, like I said above, I don't know much about TPS, but for green card (I-485), there is a question in the application "have you ever been charged/arrested...?, so even if you were in some kind of diversion program or you went through pre trial diversion or even the charge was dismissed eventually (no fault of yours), you need to answer yes if there is a similar question in TPS application. And provide the explanation about what happened. In addition, you need to provide certified court disposition letter saying that case is closed now to USCIS. As long as the crime doesn't fall under "crime of moral turpitude - CIMT" (felony, theft, etc), you will be fine. And yes, hit and run doesn't fall under crime of moral turpitude. http://www.ilrc.org/files/documents/n.7-crimes_involving_moral_turpitude.pdf

@RKY, I amn't sure if I understood your problem correctly. You filed TPS and EAD, correct? If so, looks like they approved your EAD, and your EAD card is being produced. I would take this as a positive sign.

What ur status says is normal.
You should have put both numbers. I don't think anyone here at sajha can answer your question. Only uscis can answer your question.
From the info you provided, your case should be decided next week. They usually take ~75 days. Or u can check the status of cases adjacent to yours (plus minus 2 numbers). They usually have fingerprint fee received date same as yours. If every one of them is approved but yours, then u should start panicking and making calls. Otherwise chill out, the case officer might be busy. So check the numbers adjacent to yours. You will get an idea.

That's normal. Many people who had fingerprint on July 28 has same status as yours. So check numbers adjacent to yours ( do u understand what I m saying ?) . U will get an idea .

Hope so. There is nothing you can do abt it. So wait 1-2 weeks, and if everybody around ur case no gets approved but not urs, then you should start calling uscis and explain the problem. Ahile ko computer ko jamana ma most probably you should be fine. Fingerprint is primarily for TPs (than EAD). Or they will let you know. Unless you have criminal case, you should be fine. Chill out. Anything that is worthwhile is NOT EASy.

Depends on state. Most states will give ss with EAD only but heard in VA, they need TPS approval too. So take your passport and EAD, go to ss office and give it a try. Worst thing that can happen is they will say NO. That's all. No need to be afraid. They won't do anything to you Even if you are out of status. Once u get ss card, then u can apply for drivers license with EAD, SS card and proof of residence like utility bill, rent lease or bank check book.

@RKY,

ON your ASC Appointment Notice, you will see there are two bar code of I-821 and I765 at the bottom of the page . The person who does your finger print also scan these two bar codes.

The form you filled up at the time of visit is just the formality.

Yes, you can take your EAD and passport to apply SSN.
