Do you want a normal Digital camra or a slim digital camera

here are some links i am lazy to type the tags, all of them are canon

you price scan to search for nikons also, remember that Memory Stick for Sony and XD cards for olympus are more expensive than buying a camera with a SD Camera

Go for disposable camera....for a simple reason...you are most likely to dispose your current camera in about 2 years.

How's about SONY 10.1 Mega pixels, 3.0" touch panel, 3*opt zoom and High Sensitivity ISO 16000. I bought it on black friday at the cost of $379, do you guys think it is good camera to take Nepal, does it has enough quality to take pics of beautiful himalayas, hills, rivers and Nepali sundaris?

Yup its a good point and shoot camera. Make sure u have a eroupe travel charger or that round pin socket make sure the ac adapter can take 220 volts, one other thing is since these ultra thin cameras dont take normal batteries and have their own Lithium ion, u might wanna get a spare battery, just incase ur batteries runs out while taking pics of sundaris.

I dont like automated Digital Cameras that much i like to change the settings manually

I really like Digital SLRs but then i am really concerned about how my pics look. If you
just like to take pics of friends and families pick anything in your price range. That will
be fine. Just check these few things

1. Megapixels: You wont need more than 6 megapixels ever in your life but more than 3.5
is good. The cheap cameras that provide you huge mega pixels do it by digitally manipulating
lower megapixels so you are better off shooting at lower megapixels.

2. Battery: Make sure that the battery is easily rechargable and has relatively long life.

3. Media: SD cards seem to be the cheapest and best memory cards these days so make sure the camera supports the media card of your choice.

4. Shutter lag: hutter lag is the delay between pressing the shutter button and the camera recording the picture. If you have high shutter lag you will invariably end with blurry pics. Although with lightweight cameras the instability of cameras is inevitible but it helps if you have lower shutter lag.

Good luck

I wont even recommend anyone buying DSLR unless you are serious photo nerd because..the cost is too much just for the sake of taking pics of you and your family & friends.

First the DSLR body is not the only thing you have to buy....think about lens, speedlight(flash), CF or SD cards, memory bank, camera bag, tripod or monopod, lesn filters and a lot more associated stuffs.

You can reasonably satisfy your needs under 400$ with reasonably good point & shoot cameras...without buying a DSLR if you are not a serious photo nerd. For 400 $ it is not even enough to buy a single good lens.

If I were not a serious photo enthusiast I would have never bought DSLR.

Here is a shot I tookat a parade less than 2 weeks ago in Toronto usning my Nikon DSLR.

I think canon has a new one out for just 600 dollars DSLR are very good but you should know photography and i dont mean just clicking the snap button, if you are starting just get a 5MP point and click digital camera.

Swatantratagaamy,

It looks like that our khaobaadi is using Nikon D70s. That is Pro camera.. khao very nice picture

For people who want to buy digital camera, my suggestion is for CANON S2 IS or CANON S3 IS, It is point n' shoot, as well as manual camera, add additional lens, easy to carry, image stabalization and cheap. It can serve as base for jump into Pro series..

anyways..

khao i hope that u don't mind me posting this detail abt ur camera make n' model. i'm tempted.. :)

mero_nam has got the info about the camera I use and he has put out the shooting info (EXIF DATA) of that image.

I wish DSLRs were smaller and weight a lot less (just like point & shoot cameras). For example with my DSLR(540 grams without batteries) when used with 80-200mm telephoto lens (1200 grams)and flash(300 grams without batteries). That is over 2 kilograms without battries .

unfortunately , none of 80-200mm lens made by any company in this class
is not built for focusing anything less than 1.5 meters away from the lens so I have to carry another lens for shooting anything that is less than 1.5 metres. I use 24-70mm lens(700 grams). Do the math about the whole wight.

kaobaadi nikon has new great 18-135mm lens which comes with D80. I think they will
start to sell it seperately from december. At the moment it is priced about $450.
There is another bitchass lens
AF-S DX VR Zoom Nikkor ED 18-200mm F3.5-5.6G (IF)
But it costs about $1000.
