Like the title says, I am looking to buy a new laptop ASAP. I am a student and I do not need to many ultra high features in my laptop. Just a simple kind suitable for a student is good. Price is not a concern. So what do you computers experts recommend?
And one more thing, which one would be better for buy, a Mac or a PC?

How about buying Compaq Presario C751NR, since u r a student its just for 449.99 .
Here are its specification
Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core T2330, 1.6GHz, 15.4" WXGA, 1GB RAM, 120GB, Double-layer DVD±RW/CD-RW, 802.11b/g, Windows Vista Home Premium
Fair enough huh...1 GB RAM should be enough for vista if u r not using any heavy duty softwares on it, or else u can always switch to XP later.
Here's the link where u can find more info abt.

if price is not a concern, go with mac book air, fell in love with it in the first sight .
You can install xp on that but its a little tedious process, need some expertise ![](http://www.sajha.com/sajha/chat/smileys/m-wink.gif)

I'd say, when in doubt, buy Dell with XP OS (if you haven't used Vista yet). Don't buy mac, it sucks eventually. Been using mac book pro for more than 2 years, and now I think of it as a big hype. Plus it heats up so badly, you can not call it a "laptop". Everything annoys me about mac these days -- my-poop-smells-jasmine attitude of mac. Right now, if I have to choose between mac and ubuntu, I will go for Ubuntu, hands down. In the age of Virtual machines, I don't think running multiple OS simultaneously is a big issue.

http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/ubuntu?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&dgc=EM&cid=21690&lid=511380 Better than Mac and obviously superior to Vista.

Dell doesn’t have the same quality they used to have. I've a 2 year old dell laptop and already ordered 5 ac adaptors. Worst part is you can't find it on any store and have to wait for a week to get it. Finally I gave up ordering it every 2 months and got myself a nice hp for $699 and loving it. Go for HP bro, its better than dell.

buy any laptops doesn't matter as far as config is good. i would say go with intel dual processor, 2 GB of Ram and 256 video memory. that should be fine with any laptops. i have acer, toshiba, dell, and hp. All of them are running good. Not a single problem at all.

I dont think there're any laptop left to recommend now, you've been already recommended all the laptops available in the world ![](http://www.sajha.com/sajha/chat/smileys/m-biggrin.gif)
dell, mac, acer, toshiba, hp,
Here's the config, so which ever laptop you buy select these config.
intel 2 duo core (any GHz is ok, go with cheaper one but make sure its 2 duo core not just duo core)
2 GB RAM (it should be same price for all)
Video card (any(inbuilt should do))... unless you are a big time gamer)
harddisk(120-160 GB you will never end up using even half of it unless u start storing tons of movie)
Operating Sys (generally every laptop comes with Vista now a days so if u've 2 GB ram there will be no problem with it, if u r not a computer student then u dont need to install ubantu or linux on it since microsoft still has the most stable OS)
DVD R/W ( i think HP has introduced Blue-ray or hdd(not sure) if u r rich go for that too)
go with 14 inch screen, dont go with bigger one, 'coz its a laptop not desktop
if you chat a lot add built in webcam, speaker and mic.
you can also add bluetooth, coz u can tranfer images and ringtones to ur cell without any cost
I guess , these should rock ur laptop and u will never need to regret.
Now regarding the brand itself
Here are my suggestions
Sony (Pros : looks good and good brand
Cons: Heats up real fast and bit expensive
Some of them dont allow you to downgrade to XP.)
Mac Book Air(PROS: The best laptop ever made.
Cons: No CD player, you'll need to buy external cd.
You 'll need to make bootcamp to install xp)
HP :(PROS : Cool Looks. Nice Price.
Cons: pretty hard to use the touch pad, feels like your skin is peeling off.
)
Dell : (PROS: Looks good, stable, less heat, I'm using it ![](http://www.sajha.com/sajha/chat/smileys/m-wink.gif)
Cons: Doesnot look as good as sony or mac book air, looks bulky
)
Dont even think of other brands, they suck.
Good Luck with your laptop, do post us which one u bought at last.![](http://www.sajha.com/sajha/chat/smileys/m-biggrin.gif)
