Yes you can . It is very easy to get H1b with travel visa. Chances of green card is also very high. Best of luck.

It is possible to change the B1/B2 Tourist visa into H1B (working Visa) but the processis hard, especially when you're on B1/B2. First of all, it depends on your qualification. If you have any professional work experience that also counts. The basic requirement is:4-Bachelors Degree (US degree or foreign Degree; if you did not spend 4 years or more in collegewhile working for your Bachelors degree, you 3-year degree and your work experience may count--have to consult an immigration attorney to get precise and accurate info though)There must be an employer who is willing to sponsor you an H1B visa given that you haveeducation (or work experience) in the same or similar field. For example, if you're an IT graduate, any IT consultancies can be willing to sponsor you an H1B.Third and the biggest part and also the most difficult part: your application has to be selectedinto the anuual H1B Lottery system by the government, which happens on April 1st, because of thelarge number of H1B applicants from the US and around the world and a significantly lownumber of H1B quotas (65,000).Hope this helps a bit.... to get more info on this, visit www.uscis.gov and consult an ImmigrationAttorney and make sure the attorney is a renowed and an experienced one; do not just go toanyone, because attorneys do matter a lot.

Also, you can consult some Indian Consultancies... I have seen people who have had their H1B approvedwhile being on B1/B2. So, go visit Indian Consultancies. Where do you live??Good Luck to you.

Hi all!
I am going through the same problem. I posted a thread in sajha also.

I m in B1/b2 visa, want to work here now. I have 3 years bachelor's degree in humanities and have work experience of about 5 years. I do not have any kind of IT related experiences despite of using MS office and internet.
But before coming to USA, I had taken cook's training.

What do I need to do? Some people say, it is good to file asylum and some others say to search for employer. I am not being able to figure out, which one will be the best.

Do u guys know any of the employers who can help me? I am currently in Florida but I can relocate if I got good opportunity.

Thanks in advance.

Having H1B visa approved is the name of the game here to the legal working world (other than by bedding with a kuhire/ni and making way to hariyo-patra). And the minimum requirement for H1B is an undergraduate degree with a 4 years college education. Whether one is in F1 or B1, as long as one is legal and can find an employer who is willing to sponsor you for it, one can file the application for it. But the situation has changed drastically since last 2 years with flood of applications in the very opening day itself everytime.

So now you know the rules,,you lay down your bet,,

There is no H1B visa left for 2009. All gone in first week of April. So forget about working visa.
Nothing gonna be easy in USA  I can tell, you will be out of status very soon since I don't see other way.
You can try your luck with Asylum

Thanks. I don't know if H1B is the right kind of visa for this situation. I mean the person that I am taking about doesn't have 4 years college degree .... heck he doesn't have a degree. But I was wondering if he would be able to work at some restaurant as specialty chef or something. He does have experience on restaurant field.

You can check at Pizza Hut or Mcdonalds if they sponsor working visa..Good Luck..

I have heard of the cases of guys getting H1B from dhotis owning motels as their alias manager (housekeeping and frontdesk person).
