$600k on leasing the spots? around $1700 per day on lease, $800 per day as employee and other expenses without considering any profit and smooth running of business. Let's assume he makes 100% profit from the hot dogs. Then he should sell 5000 hotdogs per day minimum i.e. 1.8 million hotdogs per year. If there are 5 million visitors, atleast 35% visitors should stopby there.

Sherpa thinks "No risk, No gain". Good luck Sherpa dai.

Now Sherpa might be in Obama's eye.

There is an Arabian Guy who sells Hot Dog right outside of my office in the corner of the street, I bet that guy makes a lot of money. Every time I pass by, he is busy selling the hot dogs. In a way, hot dog aint a bad business in NYC.

We are planning to put a Momo vendor in 5th Avenue and 42nd street. What do you think guys???

yeah that's true, but then the dumplings/pot stickers/gyoza have closer association with chinese/japanese/korean association.  It is hard to speculate whether that's a good thing or not.  On the one hand people are familiar but on the other people are not familiar with your type of product.  Only way to find out is to make the jump.  Do you have the business plan and financing in order?

Stat,

You miscalculated how many hot dogs Sherpa dai has to sell to stay in business. Even if he sells 2000 hotdogs a day (1000 on each cart which is realistic), he'll make decent money ($327K per year)

Total Reveneu per year 2000/day* $2(Sales price) * 364 days  = $1456000

Expenses:

Rent $600,000

Hotdog cost each $.5*2000*364 = $364000(including ketchups, mayo, mustards all) I know it will cost even less because there are lots of hot dog shops who sell hotdogs 69c each and still make money)

Wages: $12/hr * 12 hrs a day (work hour) * 364* 2 (for both shops) = $104832

Misc expenses: $50,000/year

Total Expenses = $1118832

Net profit per year = $1456000-$1118832 = $337168

$327K per year... NOT BAD

Go Sherpa dai...If I come to NY I will make sure I'll eat at your cart...Make sure you keep some Chicken or Pork hotdogs too cause I don't eat beef...

Aug 25...., actually the price of Hot Dog in NYC is $1.50, trying calculating the revenue by taking $1.50 instead of $2.00 then you will find how much profit sherpa dai gonna make.
