Credit company itself doesnot charge you for paying tution fee. It depends on your college policy. Some college charge fixed or percent amount to students while paying via credit card. So consult your college administration to find out.

You can pay your college tution fee using a credit card. some colleges might not accept that. you will have to pay the interest rate the credit card charges you. so be careful using credit cards...these blood suckers will suck you dry every opportunity they get. here is a link of a very good video that aired on PBS called "the card game" http://video.pbs.org/video/1342007771

Only set back with credit card is - if you carry the balance for long duration, interest rate go as high as 29%. But it is not only specific transaction, this all about credit card debt.

yeah very true abodh!but i guess the new law is going into effect from FEB 2010 where the credit card companies won't be able to do that anymore plus they cannot just slap you with over the limit charge and late payment fee just cause you missed one payment. lot of things are going to be changed that is the reason why these basterds have been increasing APR rates to the max before the law goes into effect.

i paid most of my tuition fees with credit cards....i have now graduated and have around $20,000 in credit card bills....the good thing is that I have a 4 years college degree. I have 4 credit cards with APRs from 12.34% to 23.99%. I haven't missed a single payment yet and right now trying to get rid of all the debt....ya i know it will take some time.....

for me it was better to have a degree and credit card debt rather than having no degree and no debt...that was my choice...

...in my experience paying fees comes under general purchase and you pay general APR you are entitled to

...if you need CASH out of credit card, then there is a way where you can get CASH out of your credit card and still pay general APR and NO cash advance fee other than paying about one time 2% of the amount you are borrowing in cash

nepalkochoro: Are you talking about how you can forward money on paypal and have it deposited to your bank accnt associated with paypal?the other thing is these credit card companies have started to shoot up their APR to the max. I guess you have a very good credit standing that's why they did not shoot yours up. Does anyone know if a Credit Union or any other program out there that would give out loan on a lower interest rate so that you can pay off your credit card bill?

Pay your tuition bill with credit card and rack up the bonus points or airline miles. Remember, It pays to use your credit card if you DO NOT carry balance.

CyberLegen: yes paypal...you can't transfer money to your own account but you can transfer to your friends account. during transfer use your credit card and after the money gets deposited in bank get it cash from your friend..u need to have trusted friend though.

yes, these banks are jacking up the APRs....two ways I am managing it 1. haven't missed even a single payment till date 2. decline the APR increase when they send the letter to you. You can decline the APR increase but your credit card gets frozen (means you can no longer use it), your previous APR applies and you continue to make your payment until its paid off. After ur debt is paid off, ur account is closed.

I also came to know that if you freeze your account by yourself, banks can't charge interest on it. I don't know to what extend this is true. I googled it all over but couldn't find any good info regarding this. So to test this, I have blocked my maxed out cards (either way I am not going to use it). I can't use it any more but if I need to, I have to call them, report it lost and then I will get the new card. Bank of America said that it will only last for 15 days so I am again calling in 15 days and again freezing it. Wells Fargo (this is the worst bank in my experience, increased my APR from 5.5% to 21.99%) said that they have no such options as freezing the account. I guess it depends upon bank to bank. But anyway, I need to wait 1 month and see if I am charged any finance charges.

I looked for credit union to see if I get loan for lower interest rates, but almost all of them declined it. They want collateral (F1 status). So the best bet right now it transfer all the high apr balance to low APR cards and pay off as fast as I can. I think I neet to pay visit to credit unions again.
