Have you ever had this problem? You know you have an exam in two days but you just don't want to open the book. It is as if there is some kind of force stopping you from opening that book. You know you have to open it and you kinda wanna open it but you just don't. I am currently having this problem and it sucks. The fact that I have to study is constantly in my mind but I dont open the books and start studying. What the hell is up with me?

LOL.. You made my day. I also face the same situation all the time..yes all the time. Nothing wrong with you..If you don't study you gone fail your exam.It is so simple...I didn't study and I failed too...

Now, addressing your problem, I faced the situation because my mind is thinking about something else. I was in stress and couldn't able to focus on my study at all.. If you have any problem you are going into right now, you have to forget it and just focus.

Good Luck and go out from sajha until you finish your exam.

FOCUS FOCUS AND FOCUS.........ON YOUR BOOK..IF YOU DON'T STUDY YOU GONE FAIL AND I DON'T WANT YOU TO FAIL YOUR EXAM...SO BEST OPTION IS STUDY.....

Man I am in the same boat. I have exams in three days. If I make 94 I will make A in that course, otherwise not. I know I can work hard but this Facebook, Sajha, and all other things keep distracting me. To add to my problems in concentration I am going to Nepal in less than a week. Shit! I don't want to study!!

Star15 bro,

When that happens to me, i start off study with superr easy material, maybe a chapter that i already studied before or one that i am really comfortable with. Then i go with the momentum. Try if that works for you.

That is called "procasination". The other day this guy passed a joke to me about it. It goes like:
Q: What is the common between procasination and masterbating ?
A: You know you are f***ing yourself.

This is what i do and it has helped me so far:

- before starting to study, I make up mind to finish X number of chapters in Y hours
- keep a big tumbler full of water on my table (helps keep me awake and active)
- turn the music on (might be a distraction for some, but it helps me instead)
- start studying (i often write something important on a scratch paper - helps remember + avoid boredom)

i usually take 2-5 minutes break every 2 hours or so. although (most of the time) I take a little bit more time than I allot to finish all the chapters, I reach the goal no matter what. After I finish what I had planned, I spend about an hour on eating, net surfing, watching TV, etc before I start studying again. turning cell phone or laptop off doesn't help at all if you don't turn your will off to spend time on those distractions.
Saying that, I better get back to studying - freaking organic chemistry test is just around the corner.

good luck studying.

Reading is probably the worst form of studying you can do before an exam. It is a very passive thing, and unless you are taking notes, your mind isn't actually retaining anything. I would suggest doing reading before a class or a topic has been introduced, but not to prepare for an exam that's 2 days away.

I would suggest target-oriented studying. You professors usually post a list of "Objectives" or "Goals" for particular section you are studying. You must actively seek to attain those objectives and quiz yourself repeatedly. If you can't explain your hajurama the topic, then you haven't learned it well enough. This is a more fun way of studying too, because you will feel more accomplished with each objective completed.
