Honkong immigration website mentions people from Nepal need a visa even for transit. Few people have said last year in sajha that they didn't need a transit visa. Does anyone know whether it's required or not? Any recent experience?

Depends on airlines ,I got ticket via United-Dragon air sfo-hk-ktm(DEC 2015),didnt get to fly.I was told either to have visa or take a diff route which didn't go well. But looking at few forums and through few inquires CSR of both alliances came to know that few asian airlines have access to let them stay in transit without VISA.I would highly recommend either to take a diff route or get a visa for HK.

Probably not if you are flying cathay/dragon. Not valid for other airlines. If your flight is a codeshare with United to cathay, get a cathay ticket number and contact them.
