dont know how to take this .. is the NCC doing a really good job or is it just using all the power they have just to put Deuba and others in jail, as according to KG orders. As we all know proving a corruption case is very very difficult, and this is the first case where any verdict has been reached and a decision given. So, i'm a little skeptical .. or maybe they are just doing their job .. if that is the case then bravo !! if not, KG is just asking for it now.

cheers,

The RCCC has got to be kidding if its going to think that rational people will believe in their credibility and readily accept the ridiculous verdicts it announced today. They didn't interview any non-Nepali NGO/person involved in this project. Their claims of money changing hands are not supported by the financial documents of the 'players' in this project. And they summarily disregarded the findings of the exhaustive investigations by the Asian Development Bank, the primary donor of this project. I am not a big fan of Deuba, nor any other current political leader. But I believe him this time when he says that this is a political vendetta against him and I think this is only the beginning. Who is next. Girija?

this just seems like a very easy way out for the king ... put all the 'political party heads' in jail not by using brute force, but by using some other, but still 'illegal' ( i dont know if i can call it illegal, but certainly unethical) ways. 'sidha aula le ghiu niskinna' bhanne ta we've all heard, so KG is flexing his fingers, but for how long ? Is his plan to do this to all the political leaders of the country ? Well, at this moment, we can do nothing but wait and see can we ? But we all know, its just the beginning of the end.

cheers,

Finally!! The verdict has been made for better or worse, but personally I believe this is for the best. This shall be a learning lesson to those entire officials working at government offices who have been raping the nations wealth for there benefit. This better be a learning experience to the rest.

I do not want to see yet another ?secretary? commit suicide where as the other leaders on top of the political tier enjoys living normally. (Has anyone questioned or probed on why he killed himself? What made him decide to end his life? ..... there is something shady right!!) A lesson needs to be learned ? if we are going to worry about the dreadful path the nation is taking, we need to work for the benefit of the "state" and put "individuals" like these behind bars. Who is next ?????............................

Jivin,
Here is something that was published recently.

The Royal Commission for Corruption Control (RCCC) Sunday rejected the recent report made public by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the main financer of the Melamchi Drinking Water Project, which ruled out wrongdoings in the selection of contractors for the construction of access road.

ADB is the MAIN FINANCIER.They did an investigation and they are saying there was NO WRONG DOING.

So tomorrow if you are arrested for stealing from me and I say that you did not steal anything yet you STILL go to jail, we will see how you feel.

In the meantime all the people who DID steal are walking free.

Think before you rejoice.

This is from BBC so everybody can know what is really happening.

The Melmachi drinking water project is funded by a number of donor agencies.

The biggest, the Asian Development Bank, ruled out corruption in the project following a separate investigation. Its findings were rejected by the corruption commission.

According to sajhaist all Nepalese are corrupt. Sometime people say all govt. officials are corrupt, other say all bahun. In one hand some say all businessmen looted the nation and other say all politicians. I don't understand who is left to be blamed and most funny part is our own parents fall in atleast one catagory.........shame to us!!!!

People named Prakash C. Lohani and someone blamed his wife as 10%. Pashupati SJB Rana as women trafficker and forget about Girija, Govinda R. Joshi, Chrinjibi Wagle, Khum B.Khadka and many more. I don't understand how Nepalese are capable to be in foreign countries expensing multiple lakhs rupees if their parents earn honest money. Pointing fingures towards other we rather pointing towards us. Better we start to say "Nepal is a corrupt country" and it is fair as most of you are abroad, who cares rest!!!

Lazywally - Yes I did read that on the Nepali paper as well ..... But I would like to see an Official statement/paper from the ADB stating the findings that you have quoted. Like you mentioned as they are the "MAIN FINANCIER" .......... I am sure they have some documentation to support the claims right. Well!! I did investigate there website and more but was unable to find anything. Hence I shall standby my belief and not trust the Nepali paper before stating them not guilty.

Its so unfortunate. Dudes its just a scene within a greater game and they did well.

Sher Bahadur Deuba never believed (in fact that moron never understood) in democracy. Ultimate climax of Democracy for Deuba is "Girija ko birodh" akin for some of us here in Sajha is "Gyanendra ko birodh".

It was Deuba who, as a home minister, gave "very strict" orders to fire in a julus, where a little kid Anish Shakya was killed. The "Mr Dear" king Birendra was pretty motivated at that time of magnifying the same to further ecstacies of his own but for the good of all, that never went as Shree 5 Birendra planned, for his own good place in the history too. It was a good role that officers of Nepal Police exhibited at that time, they obeyed the Griha Mantri Deuba but never to the extent of his orders. Remember, I would like to stress here as a person who knew some little things at that time, the then unsuspecting Girija had TOTALLY RULED OUT any use of fire-force then but from that time Deuba was in the cross-hairs of Girija and eventually Girija became convinced that Deuba is a Darbarko karmachari. It was that time when Girija identified the person in Deuba.

American interest in Nepal is always towards a centralized source of power which can be easily manipulated and they favor a loyal dictator than a democratic government whereas indian interest is towards a screwed-up democracy where they believe they can create next Sikkim (not in terms of annexation, they dont intend to annex nepal, they just want to make it like Bhutan - the difference is that in Bhutan, the people are too loyal to the king and not ethnically similar to indians, so in Bhutan indians want the king to be strong whereas in Nepal they want a screwed up system with likes of Madhav Nepal as the leaders).

Everyone knows how well Deuba performed his role of defaming the Parliamentary system by "sansad kidnap" and "Pajero kanda" and all that stuff. Everybody knows his role of dividing Nepali Congress, when at the last moment Girija was ready to give up to Ram Chandra Paudel and take back all disciplinary actions but Deuba still went on citing "hall bhadama liyi sakyo, sathi haru aaisakyo...". Everyone knows how well Deuba killed the parliament with even his cabinet members baffled. Everyone knows how well he performed in the later games from being inept to UML's "pratigaman aadha sachchiyo".

This time too, the RCCC or whatever jailed their Deuba, AFTER AND ONLY AFTER THE ADB ITSELF DENIED ANY ACT OF MALPRACTICE. Furthermore, Melamchi itself is not such a grand shceme that one would, IN SINCERITY, want to sack Deuba. All this was done because Deuba is to be highlighted, this MOHRA will again be needed to the palace, so they are doing this for two things
1. Creating a wave of sympathy to Deuba so that the next time UML and Madhav Nepal see that the pratigaman is quarterly corrected, Deuba is again the unanimous flunkey to the seat.
2. Doing so such that Deuba is not implicated in the case. Thats why they chose Melamchi, and gave the verdict after ADB itself acquited any wrong-doings.

I rather sympathize at the "buddhi" of those who are sympathizing with Deuba.

You are right. I stand corrected. One should never trust nepali newspapers completely. Furthermore, since the RCCC has full documentation proving the guilt of everyone involved, they must be
guilty.

I agree that the verdict awarded by RCCC is not by completing due diligence. It has a big flaw.

But coming to ADB.... don't simply believe what they say as well. As a matter of fact they themselves are culprits!!!Do you believe that all the project funded by ADB/World Bank are free of corruption??? ha ha... don't get tricked. Most of the time they are the one who dictate which consultant/contractor shoudl get the project!!!!!!!

This is the greatest news ever. This should be a message to the leaders that they cannot just mess around with Nepalese Lives. And Sursab, you are defending corrupts saying all people are corrupt. But have ever seen a life of a person who is against corruption. Its made like hell.

You are saying everybody came with corruption funding. But unlike you somebody came with scholorships, assistantships, and other sources.

The next on line should be Girija.

Great job RCCC you got few corrupts to jail.

WHO WILL JAIL GYANENDRA FROM CORRUPTION GOING ON SINCE LAST 5 YEARS? He has been accumulating public fund into his bank a/c in the name of palace expense. Isnt it ridiculous that when the number of royal member have been reduced, the totla expense is increasing every year?

If you want to clear corruption jail Gyanendra/Parash first.

Looks like time is coming. There will be time for Gyane too. But right now the judgement day is for the Deuba and Prakash Man. This 2 yrs is not enough.
