Pili captives are safe: INSEC

KOL Report

KATHMANDU, Aug 22 - The Royal Nepal Army (RNA) soldiers taken hostage by Maoist rebels after fierce clashes between security forces and the rebels at the Pili army base camp in Kalikot on the night of August 7 are safe and being treated humanely, Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC), a rights watchdog, said Sunday.
The online portal of the organiztion, inseconline, quoted a Surkhet-based journalist Ashok Kumar Singh as saying that 27 RNA men abducted by the rebels after the nightlong clashes have been kept in a village located in southeastern region of Pili and are safe.

The soldiers in Maoist captivity have said they were treated as prisoners of wars.

Of the 60 abducted, Singh has brought photos of 27 soldiers.

?Though they had been treated humanely, they were nervous thinking about their captivity,? said Singh.

The abductees have expressed hope that they would be released immediately if journalists and human rights activists pressed for it.

In a recently issued statement, Maoist chairman Prachanda assured of releasing the soldiers saying that all the captives were being treated humanely and would be freed at an appropriate time after necessary procedures.

In the statement that came in response to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Nepal, Ian Martin's call for humane treatment to the hostages, Prachanda also said his party was committed to provide cooperation to the envoy.

At least 55 soldiers and 27 Maoists were killed in the clashes.

The hostages who Singh met are: Anil Kunwar, Jit Bahadur Tamang (Nuwakot), Prem Bahadur Tamang (Nuwakot), Shyam Bastola (Gulmi), Ram Bahadur Tamang (Sindhupalchowk), Keshav Phuyal (Dolakha), Umar Kunwar (Kaski), Krishna Bahadur Tamang (Nuwakot), Shiva Karki (Dhading), Jiwan Tamang (Kathmandu), Ram Bahadur Tamang (Sindhupalchowk), Tanka Bahadur Ale Magar (Dolakha), Tej Narayan Shrestha (Kathmandu), Tirtha Bahadur Dhital (Gorkha), Jhilke Tamang (Lalitpur), Netra Ghale (Shyangja), Sarob Ranabhat (Tanahun), Tara Lama (Sindhupalchowk), Min Bahadur Chaudhari (Bardibas), Kailash Dangi (Dang) and Hariram Chaudhari (Address unidentified).

The identity of four other captive soldiers is not known. (snn)

If Maoist are really good sons of Nepal than this would have never happen:
Just read for yourself before you judge them:

KOL Report

KATHMANDU, Aug 23 - A group of Maoists raped over two-dozen women of a Dalit settlement at Jagatpur-4, Saptari district at gunpoint last week.

The rebels also threatened to "completely destroy" the hamlet in case they disclosed the crime. The incident came to light only on Monday.

About two-dozen Maoists, who came five days ago, raped females of ages between 22 and 35 years.

Nine victims recounted the harrowing experience in front of a group of human rights activists and journalists who reached the village yesterday.

"They (Maoists) told us to prepare food in the beginning," said Shyam Kumari (name changed), adding, "After they had eaten, they forcibly carried us inside the houses and perpetrated the heinous act in front of other family members." She was raped in front of her father and mother-in-law.

The youth of the village had left the area long time back due to increasing Maoist activities and only children, women and the elderly remain in the village now.

There are about 25 dalit families in the village, in the north of the Koshi River bank. Locals are terrified after the incident. "If they know that we told you about the incident, they will come and kill us," said one of the victims, sobbing.

After word spread about the heinous act, the Maoist leadership of the area came to the victims and "apologized". "They prostrated themselves at the victims' feet begging forgiveness and also pledged to take action against those involved," said 65-year-old Gopali Khang, father-in-law of a victim. (snn)

Can any one explain me the above crime and many more done by maoist.... how does it explain as respect of human rights?

Why does our human right agencies have no guts to go against maoist when they commit crime like these, they seem to be very vocal against Security personal. Are all the human right agencies run by maoist or their supporters?

Highfly, you son of a gun! I am not here to defend the crime committed by Maoist cadre. I am not a blind supporter of any political parties. I just advocate the good cause of Nepal. If the news from Kantipur is true, I will definitely think Maoist leadership will punish those who were involved in this crime. I personally think those who were involved in this inhuman crime should be prosecuted.

Turbulence,
Earlier you had written, "Maoist are fighting for poor people of Nepal ( 95% of Nepalese).
A person who cannot think more than his/her personal benefit cannot understand the spirit of Maoist Movement. "

So I assume that you fall in that 95% of poor nepali who Maoists are fighting for, right?
Well, guess what? Maoists just raped those nepali that fall in the same 95%. I guess that is what you call fighting for. Shame on you. Open your eyes, and look around to see what Maoists really are, you idiot.

Yo logic mildaimildaina ba ba. If the news is correct, you would be satisfied to hear another news that tell you that Moasits leaders punished those cadres involved in the rape case???? What a fuk*king logic is that. Can't you see that it's a mass rape by mass of cadres. This is not the crime committed by that group of cadres but this is the heineous crime occurred under Maoists movement. If Maoists movement manifest into these crimes, it's the leadership and their operating style is the cause. The leadership has failed!!! So these bastards prachande baburam badal whatever fucc#k*ng as$holes they are, can't just keep on going on with their movement saying that they will punish the cadres. Hello????

Guys,
Crime occurs everywhere, in a civilized society, and in a uncivilized society as well. Not only some maoists are committing crimes, but some armies and some politicians as well. But they do not our society. Criminals do not represent our society! All of us agrees in that. Just try to understand the goal that the true maoists have been seeking for. Hope for the best and the prosperous future.

pakhey do you mean we should voice our concern over the crime commited by soldier or poltical parties, but let go the crime commited by maoist as just the repetation of what others are doing..

thats dumb..

"A crime does not justify another crime"

if maoist are same as what current government, then why the heck are people like you and turbulance supporting them.... if on one hand you claim they are figting for poor on other hand they are criminally similar to current govt then where the f*** is difference....

For me maoist are nothing but bunch of loser trying to win good life for themselves on power or gun.. .Maoist are the most selfish group in Nepal rihgt now..

Paakhey don't talk like a bheda. Such heinous crime can never be overlooked in the name of revolution. You seem to be fine with it because it's not your family who were affected.

You're talking like one of those desktop warriors who have a lot of theories that they agree to amongst themselves but hell they're not the ones who are affected by the maoists. If their own immediate family was affected by the maoists then they would know what kind of atrocities Nepal is dealing with right now. Maoists are known for their atrocious mass killings and they are the number one enemy of Nepal.

They have forcibly recruited thousands of people in their army by use of force. If they don't obey they are killed. It's a politics of terror that they are playing and before they are controlled, there is never going to a true democracy in Nepal.

Well,
I am not saying that you guys are wrong or anything. And, I am not trying to defend the crimes committed by maoist either. Crime is a crime whoever committs it, and the one who committs a crime is a criminal, there is not justification to this. But my point is, leaving the criminals who are embedded inside maoist movement in Nepal, lets all look for a solution to make the society fair. Lets create a society where humanity is respected, where there is no distinction between rich and poor, where each one of has an equal right to the nations wealth, where nobody is born as the higher or lower class in the society, where the hard labor makes a person great but not the family he was born in, and so on. I hope you guys will understand what I am trying to say.

Paakhey,
All these things you have mentioned won't happen by supporting the Maoists. And Maoists are for sure not fighting to make that happen, get that first, by simply looking at their actions.
So basically, you and I are on the same boat but you think Maoists will deliver these, while I think they won't becasue they are just a bunch of losers, barbarians, terrorists.

Paakhey,

As hurray said Maoists cannot deliver it. I am also in the same boat with you guys. Instead of fighting with each others we need to bring the peace in nation first. We need to work together for peace in Nepal.

Highfly, Hurray, and other friends,
Yeah...you know....we all are in the same boat. Yes, we all are Nepalese, and we all want peace in the country. We all are in the same boat. Hurray, you are right. In my opinion, maoist can deliver the things that we all want, I know you don't think it that way. It doesn't mean that I support every crimes commited by some criminals in the name of maoists.
King already had his opportunigy for 30 years, parties for almost 15 years. Look at Japan, where it was in 1945, and where it is now. Why can't we see any signal of development at all in our country? Because they could not do it. We already know that these people who already ruled over, will never do anything for the country. The country is going backward anyway. So, what's wrong in trying Maoists?

Paakhey,

There is no margin of error with maoists. Even before coming to power they have indulged themselves with inhumane behaviors, I cannot even imagine what will happen when they come into power.

If you talk about their philosophy, its a failed one. Closed economy, communism will not bring any good to a nation. Think about other consequences. What about the international embargo?? What are their action plans to make a nation self sufficient. Do not forget Nepal is a land locked country with a very rough terrain. What about the foreign intervention?

The situation of Nepal is very delicate. We need the governmnet that can handle foreigners diplomatically.

In the mean time, try develop Nepalese econmoy. ( Mixed of Capitalism and Socialism not communism). Make all the organizations self reliant and slowly open up the country to compete world wide.

How big is Nepal? If we connect Nepal with infastructures, we can reach any place in Nepal in few hours. We can provide education and health care to every Nepalese. Lotta resources have been pured in. Because of corruption its all been drained. Thats why I stress in transparency and strong framework. This thing is no way possible under maoists. They want party government. Where there gonna be transparency? There will be no independence, intregirty. Thats the biggest issues.

Other biggest issue is internal fight within maoists. Once they are in power how they gonna control lower flangs. The miltary wing has always damned the poltical wing. They will rebel within.

Only solution is maoists should give up weapons and violence and so commitment to democracy. Its the requirement and not the minimum requirement as they been saying.

Paakhey, when you wrote ,"The country is going backward anyway. So, what's wrong in trying Maoists?" you contradicted yourself. Maoists are dragging the country backward. They have destroyed many infrastructures and have refrained young kids from attaining school dragging them into their greedy fight for power.
Yes, we need a political change and most importantly we need a social change in our society, but Maoists won?t bring that. If they do, they will bring the ugly one, not the one where we prosper as a community and as an individual.
And remember what defines one is the his/her action. And Maoists actions have already defined them as terrorists, barbarians and inhuman. Their promises (words), their apologies have absolutely no meaning when their actions have started to speak louder.
And Paakhey, if you still believe in Maoists and support them then your same actions complement your name.
