PRESS RELEASE

I, Gagan Kumar Thapa, in my capacity as a former general secretary of Nepali
student wing affiliated to the Nepali Congress deeply condemned the move of
King Gyanendra who has assumed the absolute power on the 1st of February,
2005 at 10.25 a.m. (Nepali time) through his royal proclamation. He has
suspended all the democratic rights and values of the constitution of 1990
that has been materialise by the people of Nepal by laying their precious
life. He has further put the leaders of all the political parties in the
house arrest and has captured the young leaders and sent them to the army
barracks. We don't know about their status. The media has been put into
strictest survelliance by the security forces.

My life is under severe threat as I have been advocating for the Republic
set-up in the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal. So far I am safe and sound. But
anything can happen with my life. My free movement has been curtailed. My
family members are simultaneously receiving the threats and are passing
through a mental trauma from the security personnel.

I hereby, call upon the international media, humanrights organisations,
United Nations, and all the peace and freedom lover people and governments
of the world to act quickly upon a highly deteriorating human rights
violation that is taking place in Nepal. Since the communication has been
cut-off and the emergency been imposed since the royal proclamation, we know
nothing about the whereabouts of many democratic political leaders and their
status. Many of them are believed to be killed by the security forces.

I would like to thank everyone helping us to fight against the authoritarian
rule that has disguised itself in the name of democracy and human rights.

Sincerely,

Gagan Kumar. Thapa

In this hour of crisis, Gagan Thapa needs your support, not this type of bashing. Why are you raking up the past at this most inopportune of times? Frankly, whoever this supposedly bully, nefarious character, hoodlum is, at least, he has had the guts to speak his mind against the tyrannical forces openly which all of you are wanting.

Most of you guys here appear very short -sighted - you can't see the big picture. Why can't you see that this Gyanendra is an evil genius. He is our real enemy, not the Maoists or Girija or Makune or others. Wake up! Wake up!

I am personally worried about Gangan and his clan. May lord Pashupati rescue them. But Nepalpremi, situation as such definately will have some impact on somebody. Gagan had chosen path as shown to him by his GuruDev. Whatever he chosed to follow either will have good consequence or bad. If not this situation ever arouse, we would have been cursing him, here in Sajha soonest he become Mantri.

Would have ppl like Gangan (yes he is intelligent and capable) ever worked over common agenda and interest, scenario would have been different. We would have saluted him. Majority of student gave him power hoping he will represent every single YOUTH OF NEPAL. We thought he would turn out to be good leader, but he eventually sold his principle and instinct and worked as a puppet against our will. Because of our leaders today we are forced to trade democracy brought by our Martyr.

Personally, lets put aside the mistakes so far he has committed and pray for his (and others) safety.

Gagan Thapa and so called student leaders from various political parties DONT need any help anytime.
These are guys who proclaim themselves as STUDENT LEADERs of so and so party and create chaos and disruptions in colleges and universities. College and Universities is not a place for party politics and dont need any STUDENT LEADERS from any political party.

Let Ganendra take care of these su***rs one at a time.

I don`t call Gagan good or bad... I don`t know him much to analyse him to his goodness or badness... well he is the result of the system of being the student leader and origin is not him... its the tradation that has been set by the big leading parties... infact people like Gagan is manipulated by the people over them ...but not counting how good or bad these people are... I can just tell that he is brave guy... brave guy who went against the king... who raise his voice against monarchy.. you being soo small fought for it... don`t you think he is too small then ... and now when he informed that his life is in threat.. no wonder it must be ... we are pointing his wrong doings here....

I will like to say one word here although I do believe that godha chore pani chor mula chore pani chor...

when the whole country is going to be taken away ... you don`t count the money of botanical tour okay..... Its time to fight hand in hand... and yeah fursat ko belamma pheri botanical tour ko paisa pachais hoina bhanera lat hanne bhai halyo ni

clickerclick

Do you mean the person who pulls the trigger should be let go free
and hold only the person who persuades him/her to pull the trigger ?

Dude no justice system anywhere in the world works that way. He is not a child and therefore definately knows about his choices he made. By the way, no one forced him to stay with political party that he was affiliated with. Was that political party forcefully going to take his life or put him in prison if he had chosen to leave.

The argument that he was manipulated by some political party is disgustingly irresponsible.

By the way he took part in protest against monarchy. well he can and could have had done it without being a part of college and university student political scene at that time. What...was anyone barred (at that time) to protest against the monarchy if he/she were not a part of university or college student leadership team.

The other thing is Ganendra is no where near of being scared by any of the anti-monarchy protest that happened in the past stirred by so called political parties for very simple reason. Ganendra knew the fact very well that such protest is limited within KTM and some major urban centres.

Did you ever hear about mass anti-monarchy demonstration in Bhojpur Campus in Bojpur district during that time ?
Well, you never did because such thing never took place over there for very simple reason, the Maoists had whipped out all so called student leaders of different political parties from Bhojpur district a long time ago.

Ganendra is and was never scared of so called anti-monarchy protests in the past and the onl thing that worries him very much is the Maoists as they have presented him with enough realistic evidence of such threats.

Usofa,

एउटा सानो तथ्य देखदैमा सुरुवाल मुतेछौ !

Yes, the referendum is a partial picture. But still enough to make Gyanendra pee his kattu.

Nepe ji,
Great! Now I came to know what real Nepali politician looks like. A small argument made you attack personally on me using ill fated words 'suruwal mei mutechhau'.
I don't want to argue with 'sick attitude' who doesn't respect others point of view.
But I do want to make you learn that.................
' be open to criticism and learn from it.'

Nepe and Usofa dude

Lets get realistic here. These students whoever might have had expressed their opinion in whichever side it might be, the present reality is that the monarchy is not going anywhere or not going to get scared in any way unless it is opposed by Armed Forces of similar strength.

Even after 10 years from now Ganendra wouldn't buzz at all to those polls and opinions because he knows that these opinions of people dont fight with guns but the Maoists do.
