(When I attended #IhaveanIdea event, I was looking forward to write about Ani Choying and Paras Khadka's stories but guess what i ended up writing)

            Let me start by a brief introduction of the event that was held on the 13^th of July 2014 in Kathmandu. It was called #IhaveanIdea, a part of the initiative by UNICEF and ChildReach Nepal. Idea Studio Nepal is a platform where people can send in their craziest idea, it gets screened and then 40 of those ideas are selected. Then these idea creators are  trained for 30 days in an incubation center where they will learn about business plan, cash flow, financial analysis and so on and so forth. At the end of all this, the ideas are presented to few investors, and if it looks promising to them, they are going to invest.

            I was pretty impressed with this idea and saw Anil Keshari Shah (renowned banker in Nepal) , Ani Choying ( the singing nun), Paras Khadka ( Nepal cricket team captain) and MAHA Jodi ( Hari Bansha and Madan Krishna Shrestha) to be associated with this initiative, which was a double assurance for me. All they said was this is a chance for the Nepali youth to persuade their dreams and ideas.

            Now if I start writing about what Ani said and what Paras said, it will get too long and will drift from what I REALLY want to write about. I have super huge respect for Ani Choying and Paras Khadka for what they have done for the country. Summing it up, their presentation was extremely heart touching and they know what they have done and they want to do for Nepal, being in Nepal.

            Now after such powerful presentation from such icons of Nepali society, comes Nisha Adhikari, the actress who had climbed the Mt. Everest in 2013. She came to stage with her story of her expedition. Now point wise I will tell you things I have noticed and I have immense dissatisfaction with.

Point no.1:- When you come as a speaker for such an event where you are considered as a youth icon and you are talking about national pride and integrity, please one thought on your attire wont harm. I know this is a very trivial thing, but wearing a skin fitted short one piece dress doesn’t look really nice on the stage. No matter how much you debate, a saree will always steal the show. DISAPPOINTED with the sense of dressing.

Point no.2:- I was already disappointed with the sense of dressing; on top of that she comes to the stage with a bunch of paper and pen. She looked unprepared, the first thing she says was “I don’t want to mess with the facts and figures, that is why I have it all written down here”. EXCUSE ME, she was told to prepare for this event over a month ahead, what was she doing then? I am sorry I might sound like a bad arse class teacher but to be in the same platform as Ani Choying and Paras Khadka, anyone needs to be super prepared. On top of that by the end of the presentation, I didn’t see her sharing any such technical term or jargons for which she needed that thick lot of papers.

Point no.3:- This is the funniest part, after talking for almost 20 minutes about her daily experience at the expedition, which was not even closely related to the event where you need to discuss IDEA…..she looks at the audience and says “I am sure most of you are lost by now”. Trust me I couldn’t believe she said that. 1200 plus people were there and it was a stunned moment for all of them. You are on the stage and the only one talking, and you yourself think that the audience is lost? Means it’s not their fault that they are lost…that also if they are lost….it is you who had to keep them captivated with the talks. And I guess she failed in that regard miserably!

Point no.4:- After baking such disastrous cake the cherry topping was, she generalizing the entire profession of journalists as useless and senseless for not working properly. I don’t know why she said that since it was not even relevant with the topic. Attacking on media when you are at a media program, with a lot of media there, it was nothing but a very dim-witted step to probably get cheap publicity. I actually missed out on that statement when my journalist friend sitting next to me, called her a name and said she has lost it!

Anyway, thank you for that voice that came from the balcony of the hall as an aakashwani crying “PUGYO” and very awkwardly she wrapped it up.

I loved the entire event and the speakers as well, very motivating and futuristic. I think it is an amazing initiative from a private sector to motivate the youth to stay in the country and do something to be self sustainable and improve the lives of others as well. Hopefully Nisha Adhikari will also learn from her mistakes and be a better well versed speaker next time.

 Out of the whole event, why is the Nisha Adhikari the talking point when you already seem to acknowledge she was probably the low point in the event? I am atleast happy that you have provided the link for idea studio at the buttom, as people can actually learn on the things that might be helpful for today's youth.

I don't know why this whole piece felt like personal gripe on what could have been better for Nisha Adhikari but not on new ideas that the event was supposed to be about.

Honestly yes I was very upset with the facts I have written down in my write up. you call it personal gripe or whatever.....I think it was a big mistake of the organiser to let her share such a stage with Ani and Paras. I had asked a lot of others who had attended the event and they share the same feeling.
Good things about the idea studio will be written on papers and other write ups .I wanted to write something the new generation actors of Nepal need to understand when they get such privileges.

I have nuthing personal against her but truth is she sounded arrogant and stupid at the same time.

First of all, I am pretty sure none of us here had heard of this Idea studio. I think its a cool concept and a radical one for Nepal. They do such shows here in US and I am sure in India as well. Israel is considered the country with most start-ups per capita because of the idea tournaments/workshops like this. Hence, I am very encouraged that we are doing this and am very appreciative that you brought it to the forefront of Sajha community.

With such a big idea and news, you chose to focus on Nisha Adhikari, as if we all are familiar with both the ideas Studio and Nisha Adhikari. I guess the website agrees with your sentiment, she is not even shown in the main banner when you go to the website. I don't know much about Nisha but if Paras Khadka and Ani are there for "ideas" concept, why shouldn't Nisha be there? Her presentation skills might be lacking and her sense of dress-up might be not apt, but I am not sure if she deserves such an exclusive mention like this.

Now, I know, we are being a little harsh. All you wanted to do was write about something you wanted to write about. I understand that, but just like Nisha Adhikari could've done a better job on presentation and delivery, probably you could've covered a little more on the ideas studtio and a little bit of mention of what bothered you? This piece just looked like bickering about a certain individual. Your past writeups have been amazing so all I am saying is I expected better.

I know your fans will come in your defense, but please take it as a constructive feedback. We all want to see you flourish as a writer, whether you wanted to be a writer or not...or a dancer.

I felt somebody was jealous with Nisha Adhikari(even though I don't know who she is) and I think it is pretty normal to be jealous of others.
Bullent#2 is total bogus. "she was told to prepare for this event over a month ahead". Like she might not have other things to do in her life. She is 100% right on “I don’t want to mess with the facts and figures, that is why I have it all written down here”. I would do the same if I was her.

I double "KIDDO" on this matter. You could have written more about the idea studio, thats a new concept (at least for me) which is needed at present Nepal. And as Thuldai (Ur Rahulvai Uncle) said its Nisha's choice what she wears and Lamps said there is no harm in carrying a piece of paper with numbers and figures, in fact thats better than presenting deluded numbers.

I am also your fan, and wish you a very good luck in your future writings etc.:). Thanks for letting us know about IDEAS. It seems to have some potential to bring positive vibe in youth.

If i forget the question "was Nish Adhikari an appropriate person to get that stage"?, which Rahulvai dai has raise, i don't see you/we need to bother much about other stuffs. She was there as an inspiration symbol, not as an inspirational speaker or presentation tutor. People have different style of presentation. Organizers could have presented her in a 'Question answer/Interview' fashion if she was not a 'fine presenter', which the organizer must have sensed beforehand.

And, you said choice of saree would have been better, i also find saree sexier other dresses, actually more revealing :)

I know it might feel trivial but we are having an interesting conversation about legitimacy of Nisha for the ceremony.

I doubt there's a jealousy going on, I am sure Amby can hold on her own. I don't think anybody will be jealous of a Nepali actor (no disrespect intended). I do observe a preference bias. Ani and Paras bring that esteemed calmness; they are two very respected personalities in Nepal. Nisha might not fit in that respect category hence the bias. However, just because you don't respect her equally, doesn't mean she doesn't deserve to be there. Sure many have climbed the Everest, but I still respect the fact that this actress, regardless of motive and means of getting there, accomplished what she said she would. That's something and trust me, climbing Everest is still not an easy task. Just from that stand point, and possibly because she is a "celebrity" the hosts might have invited her. If I was given a choice, I'd rather invite young businessmen in Nepal, the dude who started Commodity market etc etc.But it's under the organizer's discretion. I agree, that Nisha shouldn't have talked about the issue of media and journalism and made the event a venue to express her agenda, but her sharing the same stage with the respected personalities-that I don't have any grimes with.
