plz don't vote to anyone they do nothing just collect $ 5 just to vote and organize a party where lots of uncivilized and stupid people drink too much and start fighting. So by far DFW nepalies community is the worst in USA. Lots of people only talk do nothing. So it would be better for you to spend that $ 5 to buy Phone card and call you family member it doesn't mean that I am cheap and can't spend $5 I surley can spend $5 for good work.In summary it doesn't worth voting Nepalies in TAXES.

thanks (nothing to say). I really heard bad things about momo dai too (piranha). I heard that he charges or rings more than what the price is, to the students or any nepali.
If he is elected, nepali society will be in big profit all the time. kaso

Hey guys,

I agree that there might be some candidates who are not fit to stand up for the society. I also don't think that charging people $5 for voting is right. Why do we have to go there and spend $5 to vote. It should be absolutely free and if it's made free many more Nepalese people would vote. It is not about spending money but it's about the right or the wrong thing and I surely do not agree with the Nepalese Society charging people anything to be able to vote.

Regarding Nepalese Society of Texas (NST) being ineffective in doing it's job----that's not true. There might be some private Nepalese parties or other private gatherings what have proven to be wrong but not the Nepalese Society. Infact, it is one of the most effective Nepalese Societies in the US. Whenever any grief has struck anyone in Texas the NST has, time and again, been very helpful and very supportive. It's sad to recall that many Nepalese people lost their lives during the past few years. No matter who they were, regardless of their color, creed, age, or sex, the NST has always been very generous and helpful to the grief-struck family by different means including taking care of all the final rituals.

For this reason, I greatly admire the NST and all the people associated with it in doing such a marvelous and an exceptional job. It is really great to see that during the sad moments all the people, including rivals withtin the NST, have come together being very supportive. So, NST with doubt is very, very effective when doing it's jobs. God Bless the NST and it's big-hearted members!!!!!

Hey guys, as far as I know that $5.00 is the membership fee .
That means you are not eligible to vote anyone unless or until you are a member of ( NST) Nepalese society of Texas. If you are a existing member or If you have already renewed your membership before election you don't have to pay to vote someone. If you cannot contribute $5.00 in two years for the organization which goes for the community where you live ,…Try to use your common sense guys ……..Why Do you want to go and vote for..?

I believe, Obviously you want somebody good, honest , social oriented ,friendly , very helpful, who respect our culture, who is always there for our community ,….rite…. ?

Then Why is it stopping you by $ 5.00

And I am very happy with this little organization called NST. And I also will go on that day of the election to pick the right candidate .

By the way guys whenever you get in trouble just call momo dai, he will be there for you. He wouldn’t even care about his business . Momo dai is the guy who has been contributed in NST since last ten years we volunteer as a member 3 times and he also volunteer as a vice president 2 times. I think He deserve the presidential post this time.

And some people they just jump to the presidential post who never has been done no contribution at all in the community .

Gauri he is already became a president once and why does he wanna be a president again…?….surprise me …….That’s like a dictatorship…

President Gauri sir do you wanna be a president forever……..I don’t know much .But don’t you think it would be batter If you let the other people led the society and you advise them tell them your experience
Help them grow the community batter. It’s a volunteer job . Unless there is something……which we don’t know..

Thanks for reading .

Momo dai.. my personal opinion... I heard he helps the people a lot especially those who is new to Dallas... Ofcourse..DV holder.. He tries to expect little extra (may be more extra) when you go to buy something from his shop... but hey it's his business.. and business is meant to make profit... Let us see who will be other candidates.. Go Dallas !!! Dallas ROCKS!!!

Anybody knows what is the criteria to stand for president of this great nation of cowboys??????

I like the idea of charging a minimal fee for voting although it seems that Dallas is not exactly doing the same. I, however, highly recommend this step.

Nothing is free, and why should voting be? This fee eliminates disinterested members of the group in deciding who gets what post. If you are unwilling to spend $5 (= charity money) to cast your vote, then I am not sure you care about the group either. On the other hand, if you really think a particular person will do a good job, there is absoultely no reason not to spend $5 either. Moreover, this introduction of fee increases your 'say' in getting who gets elected as well. (earlier you were 1/n, after introducing fee you are 1/k, where n>k).

Guest 4,

You know for sure that everyone (Nepalese) here in the US can spend one-time $5 charge. Regardless of your confusing "either" and "or" and your complex equation, it's not about money that people are writing about here. It's about what's right and wrong. Whatever it may be, I do not belief that for voting purposes, people should be charged any thing. If it's for charity, it is more than good, but should be collected in the name of charity and not to obtain voting rights/fees.

Also, If the voting is free, many more people will turn up to cast their votes making the election more effective and efficient.

I know the voting fees may not change and paying the voting fees is not a problem, but in simple terms it's just not right.

Happy face,
What may be “not right” to you may not be the same to me too. Moreover, you didn't say why it's not right or why it's wrong. So, I can't just take your words here!

Sorry if my 'complex' mathematical equations made it harder for you to comprehend what I was trying to say. All I was saying was, since the introduction of fee would eliminate some members of the group, each individual vote counts more than before. In other words, each individual vote makes up a greater percentage of the total. So, people who really care what goes on with the organization get to 'say more' to elect their leaders. Of course, the assumption here is that if you are willing to spend $5 to vote, then you do care about the organization/group.

>>Also, If the voting is free, many more people will turn up to cast their votes making the election more effective and efficient.
That’s exactly the reason why I support the idea of having a voting fee. More people might show up but if they don’t care what happens to the organization after they vote then what’s the point? This process eliminates such uninterested members. Why should anyone be allowed to vote if they don’t really care for that organization?

**If it brings you any solace, Happy Face, I think, we should have voting fees in national elections too, starting with the CA elections!
