Dear all,

Finally here we go. Football is BACK ! Lets have some fun like previous years and root for our teams.

Here is the link to make the predictions. I will try my best to update the picks by Monday night every week.

http://sajha.com/sajha/html/sportsprediction.cfm?yearid=0d3484e7-c255-4874-bcc2-5960f8fc761e

Brief overview of what I think will the season will go.

Pats, Bengals, Texans, Raiders, Eagles, Bears, Falcons and Niners will win their division. I personally root for the vikings but I think we are going to end up with top 3 picks next year in the draft. Would love if the Pats can win it all.

Who are you rooting for?  Dont forget to make the picks.

Lets GO !!!

sparrow,
thanks for bringing out NFL pickem this season again.
I think Ravens instead of bengals, Chargers instead raiders and Packers instead bears will win the divisions. I agree with with u on other picks.

I love to see Cowboys winning it all but that sounds funny for even me so my 2nd fav pats can do it this year.
BTW vinkings should concentrate on lossing like colts did last year....they can grab Matt barkley out of USC....Chirstian ponder is not future of vikings.

I picked my winners for week one. This year I am playing three fantasy football leagues, so there goes my bonus. I am at least relieved the fantasy links are blocked on my work computer, or else there would have been mayhem. Speaking of Fantasy football, in my first league, I drafted Peyton Manning but as a backup quarterback to Philip Rivers (sigh!, I didn't have any choice to draft any other 'better' quarterbacks, don't get me wrong, Rivers is a great QB, but it was downhill for him after 2009 season) in 9th round.

I mean c'mon now, Peyton being drafted in the 9th round? Whoever predicted that the world is coming to an end is possibly right.

For AFC East it is Pats all the way, Rex Ryan needs to pipe it down just like some bitter guys in sajha. LOL. He is NEVER going to win the superbowl.

AFC North has always been a fierce battle between Pittsburgh and Baltimore. I am not convinced Bengals will WIN the division, last year we did see some brilliance at the receiving end, and I am sure it will continue (AJ GREEN is my primary receiver in one of the leagues) but it will be a little premature to predict they will win it all. Terrell Suggs is gimpy, and Antonio Brown just torched Buffalo. I predict Steelers to win the division.

AFC South will be Houston. There are lots of star players in the team, and with Wade Philips defense, it has all the factors to decimate Indy, Jacksonville and Tennessee (Jake Locker? Really?). Andy Luck will shine, but not enough to beat Houston. Thanks to Irsay fool, it will take forever to win another division title for Indy.

AFC West is a battle between Broncos and Chargers. Hue Jackson paid a king’s ransom for Palmer who isn’t producing as desired, and with no Nnamdi anymore, I do not see Raiders winning. And Kansas City? Seriously??? Also, I do not think Manning is gonna make Broncos win the division. I have no clue what that guy was thinking when he joined Broncos when a very good team like 9ers was salivating for him. Who will he throw to? Eric Decker? He juggled the ball halfway through his touchdown catch today. I do not trust him. So it is going to be Chargers.

NFC North will be a battle between Green Bay and Detroit. Urlacher is not feeling good and the offensive line is poor, Julius Peppers is gimpy. Agreed they have Hester and they acquired Brandon Marshall but apart from him, who is Jay Cutler gonna throw to? Green Bay’s defense has been shored up, and now they have a chip-on-the-shoulder Cedric Benson from Cincinnati. They are formidable than ever. Vikes will NEVER win a division. They only have AP and Harvin and Jared Allen as their star players, (Oh and Matt Kalil too) but it will not be enough to threaten other rivals.

NFC East will be a close call. I do not think Eagles are gonna win, Vick is injured, and he is not a true pocket passer, Nnamdi and Jenkins are still learning the Philly defense. Except for Babin and LeSean McCoy, I do not see a TRUE star player there. Same with Cowboys, Miles Austin is Gimpy, Dez Bryant hasn’t been as good as advertised, and with Witten resting his bones (spleen) the pass is going to suffer. Redskins might have a good chance if RG3 and Fred Davis could connect, but then again, for other strong teams in the division, I do not think they will win the division. So all we have left is giants, I do not trust Manning, but he has made great throws at worst possible moments, and with a great defense in the tow, Giants might win the division.

NFC west is 9ers without the slightest doubt. Seattle just named Wilson as their starting QB, whatever happened to that fanfare of Matt Flynn becoming the savior, also with T.O down the pottyhole and Sidney Rice having surgeries on both shoulders this off season, the sole responsibility of carrying offense will be on Marshawn Lynch just like MJD did for Jags, now tell me when was the last time Jacksonville won the division? Rams will suffer, but not as much as they did last year, and the only team remaining is Arizona where QBs aren’t even competing.

NFC South will be Saints again, but with difficulty. I do not trust Atlanta, they do not have a strong defense against the juggernaut of Brees. But it will be interesting to watch Cam Newton and his team again, Carolina’s defense is decent, and offense isn’t bad either. Tampa Bay will try hard, but will not win the division.

So here is my take

Division winners:

Pats
Steelers
Texans
Chargers
Packers
9ers
Saints
Giants

Wild card

Lions
Falcons
Eagles
Ravens

Bengals winning their (AFC North) division?  Did you forget they are in the same division with Steelers and Ravens?

Yes, why are you surprised?

I laid down all my analysis based upon the current report.

Strengths for Bears

- Cutler has a good arm and could throw deep.
- Hester is a good punt returner
- Brandon Marshall is a celebrity wide receiver who has connected well with Cutler in the past.
- Forte is good, VERY GOOD.
- Lance Briggs is still around and healthy.

Bears' Weaknesses

- Urlacher has knee injury, he will play, but imagine his knee hauling his massive body. He will be gimpy throughout the season
- Julius Peppers has played through foot pain, and he has a kind of pain that aggravates gradually.
- The offensive line is NOT GOOD.
- Besides Marshall, the team lacks good wideouts.
- Mike Martz is long gone and the new offensive co-ordinator cannot beat Mike McCarthy in vertical pass play.

Strengths for Packers

- Aaron Rodgers is arguably better than Brady, let alone Cutler, not my words - it came from all NFL football pundits.
- Rodgers can throw pass on the run, also he can run and slide unlike Jay who gets sacked and hit.
- Green Bay has POOL of talented receivers all over. Jennings, Nelson, Finley, Cobb, Jones and even the Veteran Driver. Remember what Rodgers did last year, he distributed passes.
- Cedric Benson is still VERY GOOD.
- Mike McCarthy has can utllize 60 different offensive play calls, the best in NFL.
- Introduction of Saturday has offensive line shored up.
- Nick Perry can complement Clay Matthews in pass rush
- Tramon Williams is back in the team.

Weaknesses for Packers

- Nick Collins is injured, so Woodson has to be the new Safety, I am not sure how that's gonna pan out.
- Departure of Clifton might still have the void in offensive line.

I'd now leave it up to you to decide who will win the division. Agreed, Bears looked strong on paper a month ago, and I did agree with it, but still, I doubt Lovie Smith's offensive play calls will be as impressive as Packers.

Haha, Suggs will be out for six weeks and the only time Cam Cameron prevailed was the first time last season. Offensively, Steelers are wayyyy better with two star wide receivers and a better quarterback, and now with Suggs gone for first six games, I am not sure Raven's D is going to be any better than Steelers.

Bhustigre,

I am not disagreeing, Ravens are a good team, but given all the facts, Steelers might edge them this season unless there are some major injuries.

This is what I think might be the scene

Pats or Steelers or Ravens VS Packers or Saints or 9ers or Giants

Remember, every year, five new teams get into the playoffs; means five super power that you assume are strong-get booted out.
All the predictions and expectations are meaningless until you watch 3-4 games of this season. Even after that it would be a big time guess, but that would be atleast a more educated guess.

Spot on Kiddo,

This is just an initial speculation. Last year who thought three teams of the same division could make it to the playoffs?

Great analysis behove_me. I agree with you mostly. I threw in bengals ahead of the Steelers and Ravens coz of injuries and age of the latter two. Bengals had a solid defense normally and their offence can only get better this year from last. So, i fancy Bengals chances of winning AFC north.

Anyways this is NFL and anything is possible ( except my Vikings winning the superbowl this year :P )

 And yes,

I think Bears have better offence and better defence ( not the QB though) when compared with Packers at the moment on paper. But we will see how actually happens once the season kicks in.

Should be a great Football Season. IF anyone is interested in Fantasy Football, we can perhaps create a nepali league on yahoo.
