The first time this mountain-out-of-a-molehill news was published in Kantipur. I am going over it again and it clearly says, they tried to hide it from the media. They even confiscated the camera of the mediaman, Bijay KC, who photographed the event.

But the news in BBC mentions nothing about that. Moreover, BBC news mentions that NAC declared it openly. What the f#@k? So, it makes me think, not always exactly what BBC and CNN show, happens in Nepal. Please stop feeding your brains through them.

What surprise me the most is, if the news, for heaven's sake, hadn't made it to the international media, would you still be making such a big fuss out of it?

Finally, believe me, if you were a true Nepali, you would know there are bigger problems to worry about at the moment.

According to CIA factbook, 80.6 % of nepalese are hindu. And in almost of those eighty percent, some kind of animal sacrifice is done in Dashain or some other kind of festivals. so getting one percent is smthing, beyond my comprehension. i never was speaking for this absurd practice. i had seen enough of it when i was in nepal and i guess so had you folks. at many times, i had questioned myself and my beliefs for such absurdity. although i myself don't believe in it, i don't question the faith of million others. as i already mentioned, sacrifice has been a part of almost all culture/religion in the past and even at present. i don't find myself in a state of shock/surprise because they did it today, however i do genuinely hope that we would be able to do away with such practice completely in the future.

i appreciate your inputs and while i agree with you for the most part, i am quite surprised that the level of eloquence that you have could not help you regard yourself as a nepali in general..and because you don't belief in the belief-system of a particular community, you like to detach yourself from the same and the community spirit that we all as a 'nepali' should feel. in other words, you could have still voiced your opinion without bragging about your own beliefs, without mentioning how it is different and better from others. i like your nepali spirit. not to mention your inclination for 'f' words that you never shy away to use on your respected fellow posters whom you always 'respect' regardless of difference in your opinion with them.

Where do you even get your analysis from? Din't you read from reliable WHO sources that 82% (or more) of the counrty folks live on subsistence?? How da fug could they even afford to sacrfice an animal without breaking the bank?? Thats it, you just proved your stupidity by the bare mention that almost all of the hindus have some knid of animal sacrifice...Get you facts right, smartazz.

And loote, Hinduism has always been my other religion. Hell, I grew up in a Hindu community obesriving every festival and being a part of every celebration. But atleast there was nothing sacrificed amongst the people I knew. The only thing in Hindusim I still cannot comprehend is animal sacrifice and that is not disrespecting Hinduism as a whole. NOT ALL HINDUS practice animal sacrifice and to say that they all do is totally absurd. e.G: Marwaris are devout Hindus, but when it comes to meat/sacrifices/even onions, they just will have no part of it. Now ponder upon that for a change.
