Reasons:
1. Too diverse: Bahuns, Chettris, Magars, Rais, Tamangs, Newars and god knows how many other ethnic groups are out there. No matter how much Nepalis believe there is "peace" among various groups, the truth of the matter is that ethnic tension has always been with us, although we may have been oblivious to it in the past. Recent problems bring this tension into the limelight. The result is of course the Maoist insurgency, and yes, this stems from ethnic problems.
2. Geography. Seriously, Nepal lacks natural resources. We got tall mountains that affluent Westerners like to scale. So I guess some of us have to work as "guides" to make ends meet. Others will have no option but to go to India to work as Chowkidaars. Some other people will sell their preteen daughters to Indian pimps. The contract lasts till these females(they probably don't even have menstrual cycle going for them) get infected with AIDS. Then off she goes back to where she comes from since she's damaged goods. Plus, she's probably thirteen by now. Indian johns don't want teenagers with whom to have sex. They want preteens. Why settle for teens when preteens are just as abundant, if not more? What's even worse is that Nepali parents are willing to sell their daughters to Indian pimps. Furthermore, some of these gals may decide to run away/elope with people they trust only to be handed over to brothels. Had their parents treated them well, they wouldn't be running in the first place. The future of Nepal looks quite bleak. Better make some bucks for a rainy day. Japan doesn't have natural resources either, but guess what, their skulls aren't hollow. See #3.

3. IQ of only 78. Nepalis are just a bunch of dumbasses.

Conclusion: Immigrate to Hong Kong or America and don't ever look back. That's the best move you will ever make. And remember the phrase "don't forget to close the door on your way out"? Guess people who decide to stay in Nepal can't use it on those opting to go to some other country coz Nepalis can't even afford doors. Nepal is a failure. Nepal is one of the poorest countries around. We are just lazy and we love beating our women. Most of us are all prolly ensconced in our comfy sofas and what not and speculating on how Nepal should be run. We have no clue. LMAOOOOOOO. Let politicians line their pockets. They wanna lead happy lives, like we all do.

Yup, thanks for the actual breakdown, Nepesahila. There is no majority in Nepal, yet all the blame lies squarely on 12.5% of the population(us bahuns) for "screwing" the country. I am so sick and tired of hearing the same crap ad nauseum.
Let see: Nepal's "majority"--15.5%
America's majority: 80%
China's majority: 92%.

People still are saying China is diverse. LMAOOOOOOO. Give me a break. America is not that diverse either.Too much bickering otherwise, know what I mean?
Who're these idiots.

Hey Nepesahila, try Mensa. Do not take online IQ tests. Everybody scores 130+ on those.
Also, make sure the test you take is culturally fair.

nice:
"Blame Nepalese and Nepal.

I will let all sajha Nepalese judge about it for this dum Ass mother-fu-cker “Thugged out” Frick metal sick looser"
I don't think fellow Nepalese are going to agree with you Mr. Nice. Because, Most of the problems in Nepal rises from the deeply rooted superstitions, lack of education and intelligence, unprogressive culture and mentality. I am ready to confess it being a Nepali, are you?

Ifc123:
I agree with thugged out in this case, dude. You are going too personal on him, he is stating the facts and it is not going into your head.
"First you say nepal is too diverse and now u say bahuns only make up 15.8% or whatever. u then advocated for your dear country (i am assuming) US's diverse background, and then now you say america's majority is 80%......." I don't understand what are you trying to say?

I don't know if this is the right way of investigating Nepal's Problems. Mr. Thugged out, you throw a lot of statistics to to prove your idea of successful countries vs. Unsuccessful countries, but you have not earned the right to bash nepal and nepalis through mere statistics that you get off the internet or whatever your source is. Perhaps,(if your concern is genuine) you should get yourself off your "thinking" couch and focus on action. We all nepalis with the an IQ average of 78 as you stated (whatever true value that number is worth), know about the underlying problems of infrastructure, socio-political structure and mentality. The focus should be on changes, positive changes, incremental as they may be. Nepalese people with genuine concern and understanding of the reality of Nepal, should put in what they can in a sector specefic way and try to add value to the country. Before one begins such a mountain of a task one has to make their own foundation strong. Changes in Nepal will happen slowly, but surely. It may not be an Industrial powerhouse because of its internal lackings, but with changing political and social perspectives, visionary and diverse ideas that hopefully come from nepalese living all over the globe, Nepal can and will be progressive. Your statistics and hypothesis are like straws in the wind, you have no credibility if you want to be part of the problem as opposed to part of the solution. Do something better with your time than digging up Nepal's wounds and scars, TAKE ACTION on whatever level it may be. Developed powerhouses and emerging markets are being fueled by people who have stopped their pessimism and are focusing on contributing towards a solution.

He talks nothing but stupid bullshit but he thinks that super great. He does not know anything. But he measures other Nepalese stupid with low IQ.

We need to break his head. This is a very lowlife person.

well..............you know what ???it is easier to play the blame game and think Nepal is really doing bad...but you know what writing all these theory and being at judge's seat doesnt help especially when you are not in the heart of the country ................
it real easy for you i guess to wake up very single day surrounded with aliens who dont know anything about Nepal and its situation...........when you are not worried where the next bomb might just blast and how many lives would just vanish in a second..........

You should be ashamed of yourself....forget the etnic crap you are giving .....do you even know the history of America ......and more shameful is a Nepali who says Nepal is a failure and maybe you dont know how a society works but its the people who makes its shameful...............and you are one of them.............
and the other thing you know what....for people from any other country and well for an American guess what you are ...................

A CITIZEN OF THE SO CALLED FAILED COUNTRY ...............WELL DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL PROUD??????
YOU BELONG TO A COUNRTY YOU CALL IS A FAILURE AND WELL SAD BUT TRUE HOW IRONIC?????????????????????????

Nepal ??? What is Nepal....n who r d Nepalis ??? Like tugged out said ...Nepal is made up of a moasic of ethnic groups...amongst whom many feel rooted 2 their culture n yearn 4 a betta way of life....n resent d elite few who have run Nepal for d last couple of centuries. I applaud d way these group of plp have extended their domination over ethnic minorities...who r the rightful citizens of the land dat makes up Nepal. Had d ruling group been more liberal n less driven towards exploitation...we cld have perhaps seen a more peaceful n progressive Nepal...had they allowed indegenious groups 2 practise their customs n culture without imposing d Nepali language n Hindu religion......many things cld have turned out better dan wat we have been accustomed 2 these days.

The ruling class have had a very discriminatory policy of prolonging their stay in power n strengthening their grip on placcid indegenious through d spread of Hinduism n d nepali language...pluz their custom deceits.

Alas...it seems dat d time has come ...4 us 2 realise dat we can't b passive 2 achieve our aspirations...many principalities in d past had revolted 2wards d rule of d Shahs...it juz seems a pandora’s box is awaiting 2 b opened imminently...remember d 1950s wen a few were sacrificed 4 d crimes of their plp in d eastern hills ??? We dun want dat 2 happen again do we ??? So guys instead of bickering amongst urself....noe d reality dat has poisoned d country……d Maoist insurgency n d fight 4 democracy r juz d tip of d ice-berg of problems squeezing d breath out of Nepal….It is high time dat a certain cancer gets removed frm d Himalayas 4 good. Now, Y has Nepal been a failed state.....????

Its easy to be hypothetical when things are going bad. Its human nature. Outside invaders coming and taking over indigenous societies is an evolutionary phenomenon. Look at history and you see that it is clearly evident. Europeans came over and invaded the "New World", stripped the indigenous Indians of their lands, manipulated them, extracted resources like humans and commodities (precious metals, ivory..etc.) from the Dravidians(Africa, Central America). Nobody today would even ponder about how America would have taken shape had Europeans not taken over..Why? Because it was a successful endeavor..Order comes out of chaos as history has proved time and time again. When things fall apart the blame game begins. But who are we to sit here and blame history? Have we suffered along with the indigenous inhabitants of the impoverished, barren and desolated regions of Nepal? Did we lose our sons or daughters or brothers to brutal deaths? Shamelessly killed by Maoist insurgence against "feudal aristocracy", as it was eloquently put by Prachanda. We sit here getting a western education with our oxford shirts, generating comparatively much higher incomes than we would have back home and condemn Nepal's reality? Who are we? We are an insensitive, greedy, time serving bunch of HYENAS who are so bored or excited with our new found western life, that we now have magically earned the right to judge and say who is worthy and unworthy? Stop criticizing this and that. Go get your rear ends to dang or rolpa and try to understand the qualms of the people there,go take a shit miles off the village in the middle of the forest with a bucket of water and see how it feels. Go make a contribution towards reversing their daily retrogressions. then speak...B.P. Koirala once said that his source of strength and motivation did not come from what he had learnt by traveling all over the world, but it came from the HUTS of NEPAL made of cow dung. WE HAVE NO RIGHT.

About the IQ thing, there is hope. Ever heard of the Flynn effect? Furthermore, in Scandinavian countries, after the end of World War II, IQ rose by a whopping 20 points or more per generation. Read on:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flynn_effect

Now, I agree with everythingzen when he alludes to the notion that people have been conquering, mixing up, migrating from one place to another for eons. According to the most popular hypothesis, homo sapiens began their long journey from Africa, the so-called mother continent. I guess everybody is familiar with this hypothesis. So yes, I don't blame Europeans at all.
However, I wonder why he goes on to enunciate that non-resident Nepalis shouldn't criticize Nepal. How do we earn this right? Democracy, man. If everybody shut their pie-holes, you would see no French revolution. I see tons of Americans bashing America. It's their right to do so. Of course, Republicans have the right to criticize them as well. Same regarding Nepal. Do we all have to be "patriotic", however the word is defined? Know what I mean?
"WE HAVE NO RIGHT"
All I know is democracy is about rights. Should we all act like robots? I like speaking my mind, thank you very much. You might not agree with me, but hey, I do have the right to criticize whatever and whoever I want.

When I said WE HAVE NO RIGHT, I didn't mean literally. All I am trying to say is that by pointing out obscure statistics, you might be hurting peoples sentiments. Is there something terribly wrong with the situation in Nepal? Yes there is. Who and what is to blame? Many factions and factors. It is a very delicate matter and nepalese people living in the US don't perform an introspection on themselves before stating their opinions and use the word democracy too loosely.I am totally supportive of material criticism, meaning proposing possible alternative solutions to the problems being cited. I have encountered inumerous amounts of immaterial criticsm not just on Sajha, but here in New York City where I live. The nepalese community here loves to criticize. It is painfully difficult to go to Nepalese gatherings here in New York, because it is brimming with smart asses who criticize without any proposals for solutions that are worthy of merit. Your general theory about the problem with Nepal does have ground, but your conclusions and reccomendations are drastic and perhaps to some, quite offensive. We should always help the ones who may not be as capable as we are, and compete with the ones that maybe stronger than us. My point was that it is important to see things from the eyes of a Nepali who might be suffering beyond our imaginations. What do you think he would feel about your comments? He or she may have hopes on us or someone like us to to give him peace and comfort that we now enjoy. It is everyone's right to voice their perspectives, but donot forget that we have the luxury to voice our opinions because we have food on our table, and we can sleep with comfort and safety every night. All of Nepal needs to be given that. Where do you think most of Nepal is in Maslow's Heirarchy of needs?
