 Hello freids,
I will be getting married in few months and i would like to know the costs of wedding in Nepal. How much does the best Band Baaja cost in Nepal ? and how about the Party ?
I am thinking of Band Baaja and Panche Baaja....If you have any idea about how much they cost, please share with us.
How much would the wedding cost total ? I've 20 Lakhs (Nrs) and i don't know if that's enough for what i am planning.

Thanks.

PK Sir,

Well the cost break down

Party : 500 *700=350 K +~= 500 K ( other party)
Band:                  =30   K
Gold                    =500 K (12 tola*40K)
Dress                 =300 K
Gifts                    =100 K
Accessories      =300 K
Mics                    =200  K
Total                    = ~= Uncertainty +- 20 % so ~= 2000 K seems you will be in ur budget limit if u stick to those breakdowns

OTHERWISE
I just have a ONELINER
i.e.
DEPENDS !

Well the cost break down for my friend (Groom side) is

Party : 500 *500=250 K +100k(drinks)~= 350 K ( other party)
Band:                  = Army Band 5K from close relatives
Gold                    =350 K (10 tola*35K)
Dress                 =200 K (for relatives, bride, groom)
Janti Cost            =200 K ( for party, Masala, decoration, Car, House painting)
Mukh Herna Aunni = 100K (for party, masala, decoration)
Accessories      =200 K
Plane Ticket       =200  K
Total                    = 1605 K

This is a real cost. And If you want from Bride Side, multiply almost by two.

Regards,
KYTIPUSULTAN.

 @Country_Boy  and @ KYtipusultan

Thanks a lot guys...That's what i was looking to see in this thread rather than somebody giving me lecture on whether or not i should spend that money on my wedding. I appreciate your time and it looks reasonable and affordable. Thank you once again.

Purana Kagaz congratulation that' u getting married, if you want to have a decent wedding in Nepal it will cost you around 35 - 40 lakhs minimum, nothing is cheap in nepal party place are crap food is crap so you have to book one of those star hotels, sari n all are way too expensive...proper band (x- army band  bihe) cost around 70K- 100K..but if you want dhoti band (which i'll never consider for mine ) will cost you around 45-50 k. decent sari/gold..party you  will be looking for 35 lakhs - 40 Lakhs. now days with the 17% inflation in country for last 2 yrs 20 lakhs will just get you married with tightly budgeted wedding. I was there few months ago and helped my good friend/ cousin organising wedding ( middle class not a classy wedding) still did cost so much..man to print average wedding card cost about Rs 500 each.but if you want those good one with silver writting n all add Rs 1000 on top.

so if you want a decent wedding man you need to have 35 - 40 lakhs...in your pocket.

PuranaKagaz,

Heartfelt Congratulations Dude! Its nice to see someone whose thread/comments pop up every now & then here in Sajha get married. Even though dont know you, feels like have known. Wish you all the best in your married life.

Well, I dont have that good idea about wedding ceremony, however, let me tell you that a cousin of mine had his wedding not too long ago and he did it lavishly - like expensive clothes/gifts/watches (either one) for the inlaws' brothers & wives etc (and there were 3-4 inlaws' cousins), reception at a nice hotel & nice selection of drinks, and its cost him 25 lakhs. If you cut the part of gifting inlaws' cousins (which I dont think is any necessary!), you can easily have a lavish wedding in your budget.

You must also have known that nowadays many people prefer to have the reception in 4 or 5 star hotels, and usually the rate there is around Rs 700-800 per head, so do the math for reception plus you get your own drinks.

Not trying to lecture you, but it would also be a good idea to donate some money - if you are left with some extra at the end - to the needy and poor and make them happy during your most happy moments - they will bless you!

People typically spend 20 to 40 thousand dollar in the United States.  That is roughly, 14 to 28 lakhs Nepali Rupees.  It seems weddings in Nepal are much more grander.   Phew!!!

It depends on your situation.  20Lakh should be enough for good party but if you are planning on buying too much gold jewellery it might not be enough.  But remember one thing bro.. "Marriage is not only about your Wedding day, It is much more about the time after your Wedding day"

 @HappyFace------Thank you for your kind words...I will certainly think about donating some money to poor kids if any money is left after my wedding.

@Johnny---------It is true that, it is much more about after the wedding day but i just want to spend money and have a lavish wedding Ceremony.

So, it looks like that i can have a decent Wedding Ceremony huh ! ? That's what i was expecting. . . I am thinking of buying about 10-15 tola gold, rest will be spent on parties, band baaja, clothes and other gifts..

Thank you all for taking your precious time and giving lots of information...Hopefully it is helpful to other sajha members who are planning on getting married soon !

Thank you.

Purana Kagaz.

First of all Congratulations.

It's wedding season in Nepal. I have been to 8+ weddings in the last couple of days. I have talked to a lot of people about the costs associated. 12 lakhs to 15 lakhs is the range.15 lakhs seems to be what most upper-middle class families spend on weddings.

I have a personal question for you. If it's too personal please just ignore it. It seems like the new trend (or may be old) in Nepal is son in US wants to get married, parents find a girl in Nepal, son sees the gir'ls pictures, talks to her over the phone, comes to Nepal, meets the girl and gets married within a week of meeting the girl. Is your story similar? I know I am being nosy. Just think of this as a survey.

 @easyname------>That's exactly what i am doing..

So yes, that's how it worked for me too.....They sent me a picure and i liked it and have been talking to her since 5 months now and I will be getting married soon.

Beware those girls in Nepal already have a bf and wanna marry a US boy for better life in the US deceiving the one in Nepal. So don't rush to marry, find out everythig about the girl b4 u marry. And please don't go for nurse, doctor. They are the worst ones..

Thanks for the reply PK.

Here's my story. Some of you might find it interesting.

I asked my parents to find a girl for me in Nepal. We exchanged pictures, liked each other and started talking over the phone. We met and went on a couple of dates when I visited Nepal for 2 weeks. She was very sweet and I instantly fell in love with her. Fast forward a couple of months I decide that I don't want to stay in US and want to return to Nepal. I talked to her and we both agreed that was the right thing to do and she said she would be more than happy to live with me in Nepal. But it turns out her parents didn't share her sentiments. They didn't want to marry their daughter to someone in nepal. So in a matter of a few months I went from being their perfect soon-to-be son-in-law to well.....................Anyways, long story short she is happily married to a guy with Australian PR and I am still single.

Every parent is looking for a good future to their children. A gentleman makes good living was studying in John Hopkinton, got many marriage proposals. As he shared the intention of serving Home land, all of them back up.  Not sure if all the proposed girls  got married with a guy living in USA or Australia.

If you have a house and monthly 6 figures income, we will live a decent living and no need to go out, what do you say?
Do you still want to hire a wedding planner?
