Hi all,

I am new to sajha. So, I don't know much about this website but my friend said me that it is a good place where Nepalese helps another Nepalese. I hope somebody will help me too.

I came USA before 3 years in F1 Visa. When I came here, my parents signed a loan with his relative and putting our home as a security. It was around 11 lakhs. My parents have a small shop in Kathmandu in the name of income. We don't have income of much. My father agreed to pay 2 lakhs every year. The person with whom we took loan was OK with that but before a week he came to our house and said that he is going abroad and so he need all his money back.. He threatened that he will use his force if we do not pay his money back. My father was very nervous. When he asked about the previous agreement, that guy said that it was urgent and he needs the money within 1 month. My parents are in big trouble. They asked for help with many people but everybody said that they don't have money. I sent them $1500 that I saved from summer for this semester but I know that won't work. I am working off-campus too leaving my classes all these days so that I can save some money and sent them later this month. I am not sure if I will be able to manage that much amount.

I have an iPhone that I bought before 1 year from eBay. If anybody wants to buy iPhone, can you please buy it from me? It is iPhone 3G 16GB Black Unlocked. It has no scratch on it. I will also give you the hard incase that I bought for 30 dollars from Amazon. I also have Samsung Gravity phone that I received when I got the phone from T-Mobile. I will sell this also if any body is interested. I am desperately looking for money. I hope somebody will help me. I have no choice other than selling the stuffs that I have so that I can send some money to my home to save my home.

My PayPal id is rajandhkari@yahoo.com

If you want to buy the iPhone can you please send the money in this account? It would be a great help for me.

Thanks

Rajandhkari -- I quickly skimmed through your post and others' comments and might have missed some important points there. But, tell us some more please. I understand that your parents don't have much time - (a week?). But out of 11 lakhs how much have they paid off - if any? How much additional $$ (other than what you've gathered and sent + some money they might have put together) do you think they'd need at this time? Selling your old iPhone and some mobile gadgets won't bring in much - I'm sure you realize that! If that much money is going to solve this problem, then it just can't be a 'problem'. As you see we have some folks willing to help you already. And I'll also be more than happy to add on to that. But knowing a little more about you (not necessarily your identification) would further supplement our emotions. I personally have no doubts on your current situation, but people - in general will have a better reason to lend you a hand, given the legitimacy of your need backed by some realistic facts that prove you are who you are, and are in need of help.

~@~

P.S: I'll transfer some money to your paypal account shortly. I sincerely hope that you and your family will get over these tough moments soon.

@Saajha, Thanks for your comment. My parents had took around 11 lakh when I came here. I sent them around 1.5 lakh twice (once in summer of 2009 and once in summer of 2010). They have also saved around 2 lakhs. We already paid the person who gave us loan around 5 lakhs. We have to give them 6 lakh more. One of my uncle said my parents that he will help 2 lakhs. This is all I know. I started this thread to look for some suggestions and I am glad that you guys are sharing me your the ideas. And for the PayPal thing, I don't think it is ethical to take money from someone else and use it for your personal reasons. I am trying my best to manage the money myself and I hope something might come in. But still if you want to help me, I would like to say that I will return your money after this summer. Please don't take me in other sense. This is how I was born and taught. Thank You again..

@Supernote, I don't know why but I am not feeling comfortable to give all my information after saying every part of me and my family in this website. Please forgive me and don't take it the other way. I am sure that we don't need PayPal account to send money. I also didn't had early but I was able to donate some money to a Nepali who died recently in USA. I just went to PayPal website, and clicked "Send Money". It will ask you my PayPal address. It is so simple. Thank You again for willing me to help me.

Rajan - Thanks for the detail and the update! Glad to hear that you guys have been able to manage a good chunk of it by now.

No worries about returning. We helped you considering your dire situation without any expectations!

I just want to add one more suggestion: Not sure if they still have financial hardship work permit provisions. If they do, why don't you apply for one of those? If I remember correctly, they also waive the application fee in certain cases. If you get a temporary work permit of that sort, you'd be able to work without restrictions!

Regardless, I hope things will get worked out well - soon!

@khatchor, Thank You very much for kind words. I am getting help from some sajha people and I am very thankful to you all. I have no words to describe. I never knew we Nepali still have a feeling of brotherhood. May it also remain the same.

I received almost $150 already. It is a big amount for me.

Today I went to our international office and explained about my situation. They said me to apply for Economic Hardship. But also they said me that it will cost me around $350 for application only. Also, it will take around 3 months for the decision. Also, my parents have to send me documents. They are already in trouble and tensed. But still I will talk to them about this tonight (day of Nepal). The thing that is bugging me is the 3 month time that will take for processing of my document once I apply. We have to pay that person by end of this month. Do you guys have any other suggestions?

brother, if u work for dhoti gas station or off campus, try asking the owner for advance payment - i am sure once u explain the situation they will understand it.  also, asking american (close) friend for some loan or loan from a bank with an american co-signer could help.  if u have credit cards, u can do money back.
also if u have credit cards, ask one of ur friends to open a paypal and pay ur friend using ur credit card and i think u that money will be deposited in ur friend's checking account, then he can write u a check.
bro stay stong man, trust me u will ride it out.
please update what happens!

Hello everybody, Thanks for all the response. I called yesterday Nepal and said everything to my parents. They are really very happy that you guys are helping me. They were surprised to see some unknown people helping me. They said me to convey "blessings" from their side to every sajha members. I tried to talk about hardship thing to them but I couldn't. How can I ask them to send me money when I am begging it with my friends to send Nepal? It is really tough. I tried twice to bring that topic but I failed.

@life is good: I live in a place where there is no any gas stations run by Indians. Wal-mart, Subway, Albertson are the places where we can find jobs here. Aba yesto thau ma khaire matra hunchan. I am thanful to every people who read my thred, gave me suggestions and encouraging me to deal with the situation. I am really glad. Thank You sajha.com

One of my friend gave me $200 today. You guys helped me with $200. I have $400 now total. I got salary from my college today which is around $260. This is all the update that I have. I am not 100% sure that I will be able to arrange that amount but I have a hope and encourage from all you guys. Please wish for me. I don't want to blame myself for losing our house. Please pray for me. Thanks everybody.

Bro: Thanks for sharing your story. I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel. I pray that you will succeed in getting the amount you need in time.
On the flip side of the coin, I have seen some rich kids wasting money and time. I wish they had a chance to read your story and get to know you. Perhaps they will learn something and appreciate what they have.

Dont panic and everythings gonna be fine. Best wishes.

Hey guys just some updates in my case.

That guy is still coming to our house and asking for the money. He is threatening to use force. My parents are trying their best to manage the amount. One of our relative gave my father 2 lakhs yesterday. We still need around 2 lakhs more within 8 days. It is very small period of time and a big amount for someone like my parents. I asked all my friends and this is the amount that we need more. I know it sounds really bad but I have no options rather than asking for some help from you guys. You guys helped me when I needed you help. If I can manage this amount, it will save our house. My parents looked everywhere they could find help, asked every person who they knew. I don't know many people in USA, all I know these days is that Sajha people are very generous and helpful. My experience says so. If you are willing to help somebody who is in a big trouble, please help me. These are the worst days in my life. I promise you guys, I will return you that amount in this summer. Please help me once. I will return every penny that you helped me. Every penny that you helped me is a big amount for me. I am very nervous. I dont want my parents to look for a house to stay in this age. Somebody, please help me.
