Aright, where's sajha's Bob Marley (who stereotyped all Tibetans earlier as being murderers and only the white peeps who believe in Free Tibet)?  Anything negative to say on this, damn racist?  BTW, most/some of us here in sajha ain't Tibetan but defintiely do sympathize with their cause.

From the BBC news today:

The Dalai Lama is set to receive a Congressional Gold Medal, the top US civilian honour, later on Wednesday - a move which has infuriated China.

George W Bush will attend the ceremony in Washington, becoming the first sitting US president to appear in public with the exiled Tibetan leader.

Chinese state media warned it would "cast a shadow" over ties with the US.

Beijing has been accused of human rights abuses in Tibet, which its communist troops occupied in 1951.

Mr Bush met the Dalai Lama behind-closed-doors on Tuesday in the White House residence, rather than the Oval Office, out of deference to China. It was their third private meeting in six years.

'Gross interference'
But Wednesday's elaborate ceremony to honour the Nobel Peace Prize winner on Capitol Hill will be a much more public affair.
Beijing described it as a "gross interference in China's internal affairs".
"China is strongly resentful of this and resolutely opposes it," foreign ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao was quoted by the official Xinhua news agency as saying on Wednesday.

An editorial in the official China Daily newspaper, titled "Wrong Move by the US," said: "This event will certainly cast a shadow over the relations."

A White House spokeswoman said on Tuesday Mr Bush understood Beijing's concerns.

But she added: "We would hope the Chinese leader would get to know the Dalai Lama as the president sees him - as a spiritual leader and someone who wants peace."

Beijing has long argued the Dalai Lama is seeking to destroy China's sovereignty by pushing for independence for devoutly Buddhist Tibet.

The 72-year-old insists he wants "real autonomy", not independence for the region, which Beijing claims is an "inalienable" part of China.

Balancing act
Analysts say it is a delicate diplomatic balancing act for Mr Bush, who needs China's help to manage nuclear standoffs with Iran and North Korea.
Meanwhile, China's Communist Party, which is holding its 17th Congress this week, is highly sensitive to potential embarrassment as it prepares to stage next year's Olympics.

US lawmakers regularly accuse Beijing of turning a blind eye to alleged human rights abuses in Burma and Sudan in its pursuit of energy and business deals.

Recently, world leaders have grown more vocal in their concern for human rights in Tibet.

In September, German Chancellor Angela Merkel met the Dalai Lama, incurring Beijing's wrath.

The historic Berlin meeting prompted China to withdraw from a German-Chinese symposium scheduled to be held in Munich and to cancel an annual event due to be held in Beijing in December to discuss human rights.

The Dalai Lama has also met Austrian Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer and Australian Prime Minister John Howard this year, and is due to meet Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper later this month.

China was outraged when Canada granted the Dalai Lama honorary citizenship last year

hahah Ekstrom is back with some really insightful lines: "who follow a leader who doesn't even know his own majority of followers' true voice"...And how may you, Mr. wizeazz know what his true follower's voice is? You don't even know anything about Tibet and Tibetan Buddhism as I'm giving you all the basic 101s here. Hell, I'm teaching azzes like you who think they know a little about Buddhism and about Tibet when in reality they know only the tip of the iceberg. I should send you and sheetalb(yatch) a fee for my services (look for it in the mail). Fool, it was aptly said, a lil knowledge is dangerous. You talk about 2 schools in Buddhism but fail to notice that Tibetan Buddhism is not Buddhism per se, its a mixture between Bonpa and Buddhism. How is it different? Tantricism is mostly prevalent in this type of Buddhism which is not found in other types of Buddhism (don't give me the Hinayana and Mahayana bull if you don't even know what it is or if you've never practiced it). Tib Buddhism metamorphed from both the ritualistic Bonpa and the spiritual Buddhist belief and its no wonder the whole structure is different. Incase you still don’t know, there are 4 lineages in Tibetan Buddhism (Hinayana and Mahayana are for the traditional school of Buddhism only).  Another fact to ponder upon, nowhere on earth is the original Buddhist teachings of the Sakyamuni (the Buddha since you know very little about Tibetan Buddhism) still being practiced.  Now go figure!!

OK, since you think you know about the sakyamuni, do you know that there have been many other Buddhas in the course of time (even before the Buddha you know)?? You didn't?? How naive!! Maybe you'd be enlightened to know that Milarepa and Guru Rinpoche are among the others who too have achieved nirvana (being at par with the Sakyamuni). And yes, there are no Gods or demi-Gods in the religion. hahahah This fool talks about Tibetan Buddhism and doesn't know the gelugpa sector. Ask any of your Tibetan friends and they'll explain...Go be enlightened instead of having the Samsara himself answer all your queries ALL DA TYME!!

hahahah And Ekstrom, you crack me up...You want the Dalai Lama to form his own school of beliefs (and you know nothing acout the Gelugpa sect). What is it you want? A new religion? Maybe he should make you the motley jester in the Potala Palace instead. hahahaha

And Sheetalb, who has the worst analysis I've ever seen (please save yourself the embarassment of taking the GRE/GMAT), where has the Dalai Lama ever asked anyone to be patient? It's China who has been asking the intl comunity to remain patient. And yeah, you flaunt that you are a Christian, what about the Pope? He heads the Vatican (the smallest nation in the world) and is also the spiritual leader of all Roman Catholics around the globe. What makes him any different from the Dali Lama, the Sai Baba or any other religious leaders you have out there??). Why don't you go to your local church and blast the priest for living off others?? Practice what you preach…Anonymity on a discussion forum should not make you find your "balls" to post words which you otherwise would never use in real life. Once again, your generalization and analysis suck. Hahahaha You say most Tibetans were glad that the Chinese took over? How do you know?? Any one to corroborate or Did you just get that line out of the chor-pocket in your Rupa undies?? Listen, From my real-world experience (instead of quoting like you do from your figment of imagination), I know over a few hundred Tibetans and not one ever has anything good to say about China. They all want an autonomous Tibet someday. Look at your own backdoor for answers (by this I mean talk to people on these issues) before posting whatever crap you can find out there. Once again, you have been schooled by the Samsara's shool of thought.

 Ha Ha Ha,

Stop your word vomit, you wanna be Mr. T, only one who thinks that I or anybody else including Sheetalb are buying your lessions, is you, moron. Yea, yea, yea, I know stories about those Buddhas that were said to have born before the Shakyamuni. But this is not even the point of discussion, what sickens me in your stupefied gibberish is that now you have come down just to vomit what you know about your religion and completely missing the topic of the thread.

I can see it, it's too much of om-mane-peme that was thrust into your brain in your childhood. I wanted to go longer, but what you have vomited is nothing worthy of replying back, so I wish to stop here.

May the soul of this universe save your soul from being corrupted with ugly propagandist teachings.

hahahah  azzhole ekstrom, doesn't even know the gelugpa sect and he comes asking about Tibetan Buddhism and trying to test my knowledge.  hahaah  Now that you've learnt the 101s, go act like you know something, shitbreath.  hahah   This damn Fugger calls religion propaganda...Are you a damn commie/maobadi?   I know shithead commies like you aren't suposed to practice any type of religion.  Don't ever lemme see maobadi suckas like you here, as you'd get tarred and feathered alive.  hahahah    Where do these morons with half a brain come outta??

BTW, this fugger thinks he knows how I grew up.  hahaha   I didn't recite no om-mane padme hum growing up...This was all a later choice in life, azzhole.  Well, nincompoop, FYI, I grew up Protestant in a Hindu nation!!  Now what, ya damn horse-face??

ok.

a few basic history (remember, history are written by winners - an example, no one knew that Jung Bahadur killed Mathabar and Gagan until after Jung's death), of tibet for you guys.

If you look at the history of tibet carefully, the Yellow Hats (the ghelupas) forcibly nearly destroyed the Kagyu (the black hats) school of thought, when the great 5th attacked the eastern province in an "effort" to unite Tibet - in what is termed as the Tibetan civil war. But, during the war that was initiated, ordered and commanded by the 5th with a help of a millitary Khan, destroyed and converted more monasteries and monks (in proportion) than the Chinese did after their occupation. Only after that event, the Dalai Lama not just became a secular leader but also a political one, controlling command over much of tibet's administration. This proves that the concept of Dalai Lama, as political leader, is just wrong - i mean how can a leader supress his own people of one region and belief, to strenghten his own region and belief.

another history for you guys. nepal has invaded tibet three times, and all three times, we have reached as far as Lhasa, but because of the chinese intervention (as requested by the then Dalai Lamas), Nepal was defeated or forced to sign treaty all three times - with Tibet, NOT china. This proves the independence and sovereignty of Tibet.

Ok, now HH Dalai Lama the 14th. I have followed HH for a long time. I myself have had the honor of attending two of this lectures. In one of the television interviews, HH was asked, are you the incartion of the 13th. HH said, "I have proved that I am the Dalai Lama." Yes he is the Dalai Lama, as he has performed all the duties of the Dalai Lama for which he was selected even before the times of the days that he can remember. Another questions he was asked, "Do you hate the Chinese?" He said, it is not about hate anymore. In fact i love them more because they are the ones that are suffereing more than us. All we are asking is to live normally, but they are asking for a place to prosper. Well, they have tibet, and i am proud that tibetans have given them as much as they are able to. Now, all we are asking is for a place to live, where we can practice what we have been practising for a long time.

Now, it is up to you all - for you to analyze. don't blame the 14th. He is a GOOD MAN. All his life since he was 18, he has given up everything for Tibetans and everyone of us. I have received more from reading "Policy of Kindness" than I have from schools in my entire academic career. Close your eyes and think this - what have you done since you were 18 for more than 10 people for more than a week without anything in return for yourself? I bet, only a few can say, yes i have done something. If you have great, you are enlightened, you do not need to question or answer anyone and continue to do more. say make that 100 ppl for 10 yrs. but, if you haven't then, i think it is baseless to even raise a question to honoring this man, who knows nothing but peace of mind, body and soul among all sensient being of the world. And to do this, you do not need to compare HH with Gandhi or Dr King. He is by his own regards as important as anyone.

Some folks here have raised questions on why HH was given the Gold medal by the president. Well, you should know, that the President only hands out the medal, it is actaully given by the congress of the United States made up of 535 members for "outstanding deed or act of service to the security, prosperity, and national interest of the United States". You might ask what were they. Well, before HH's teachings to the west, we had no idea about the inner peace through compassion. Well, there were other religions teaching love, but they were about love of god. HH gave us compassion to all. If you believe in god, then yes, love your god and other beings. if you don't believe in god, you still love other beings. This teachings has much contributed to the american society. Consciousness is the only way to peace of mind. Only compassion can give you that. Go to Boulder, CO or Seattle, WA. You will know that.

For humanity's sake, let this man do his job. The decorations are mere affirmation of his plight to autonomous tibet. even if the US has some political agenda by doing this, HH has no interest in decorating his body with medals. And yes, he is never going to ever wear that medal and walk around. He is only a simple monk. And yes, once Tibet is autonomous region, and i am allowed (as i have no tibetan heritage), i will go and live in gosul gompa by Lake mansarobar. There is nothing there but peace and serenity, and that's exactly what the tibetans want. what i want and what you and all of us want. Hoina ra mitra haru.

sujanks, I couldn't have said better!  An analysis that deserves the highest commendations.  BTW, I follow the Kagyu (the black hats) school of thought but I still love and Respect the Dalai Lama and the Gelugpas.  He is after all a man of religion who has chosen a path to serving his country-men...And if he receives accolades along the way for his own compassion and dedication towards humanity, then it should be seen as good thing as that would help others like him (non-Buddhists) continue on their efforts for global harmony knowing that their efforts would not go unnoticed.

Sujanks,

Lets put aside whether he deserved awards and medals or not. It is still remains as a subject of political discussion.

A huge applause to you for throwing some lights on the issues of how and what The Dalai Lama is worthy of. Otherwise, this dimwit, self proclaimed know-it-all Samsara's bush beating and not giving straight answers was making everybody even more deluded in already controversial issue.

hahaah  This ekstrom fag keeps coming back to get his azz whipped (like friggin cream)!!  What up commie, you back to for a double dose of upper cuts and jabs AGAIN??  Listen fool, for a person who comes here to discuss about a topic not knowing a damn thing about the dignitary the thread talks about, you sure take the cake for arrogance.  Hahhaha  I teach you stuff and you come back acting like da shiznit!!  Dude, It's fuggin appalling that the student thinks he has now become the master (with only an elementary education)!!   hahaha   Clearly, from all your posts, you know NADA about Tibetans and the DL and you debate with someone who practices the Tibetan dharma day in and out??  What a moronic dimwit!!

Would the almighty strike lightning onto this fugger, so he may turn into ashes ASAP...That would then be the only gray matter he'd ever have!!  WTF??

Samsara, read again what I wrote and mull over it.

I am glad for Dalai Lama.  If anyone deserves the congressional medal, he would be the one.  So he got the medal, but why are some people here at Sajha so bothered about it?  That was my question.

If you want others to cease being venomous to you, perhaps you should practice some restraint yourself rather than flying off the handle, Samsara saathi.

Samsara:
You say that you follow Dalai Lama and his teaching but read your postings and see how much filth it is. Dalai Lama might have some things for him own Tibetians, but for me he has done nothing great for others, and so i do not care what he deserves or not.

FYI, i go to a church where the pastor is a married man and works for a Fortune 50 company and does pastoring only as a volunteer. We meet in a rented home. I already told you earlier in my posts that i have no respect for people in robe including Pope. i believe that a human life is incomplete without the concept of family and i do not want to ever believe that a person in robe can change the world.

Also, why are you bashing Sai Baba? He has done much greater work for the society than your Dalai Lama. Both call themselves God but at least he is building hospitals and schools for people and educating and treating them. In today's time, just opening your mouth is not enough, one needs to do things.

And Dalai Lama said that he feels sorry for Chinese, HA HA how pathetic.

And i have met several Tibetians who want to be called Chinese and in fact one of them left his green card to return to China and work there. He feels that he has the same freedom in China now to work as in US. Time has changed today. If we would ask the same question 20 yrs back, maybe answers would be different. Just becasue US cries all the time that there is no human rights in China does not mean that it is the truth.

Just imagine, how you would feel if somebody interupts in what you believe in. The reincarnation of any lamas are now required to be passed by the government. Who ever decided to give the Dalai Lama the gold medal must have found something good about him. if you have not found anything good in him, don't give or say anything nonsense about him. do a through research first and then comment about somebody. watch the video "nangpala shooting" in google. you would see how the chinese government rules are. or watch the videos about tibet in youtube or google.

Sheetalb,

What's up with your old Christian view,my way or the highway, anybody who do not take Jesus as his saviour is a pegan? Since when did Buddhist started having problem with your Church? Keep that in your church, not outside. I have no problem with your faith, but don't lecture about faith in public. Please don't bother. Nobody is saying you have to be Buddhist.

"Also, why are you bashing Sai Baba? He has done much greater work for the society than your Dalai Lama. Both call themselves God but at least he is building hospitals and schools for people and educating and treating them. "

How many hospital did he build, I've never hear one. "Greater for the society" what society are you talking about? How many people are there in that society beside few from Nepal and a pocket  of followers from Bagalore? I think Rajnish has more follower than him, who died of AIDS.Why the hell is he not getting recogniztion or some medal.?

Dude, get a life and get your fact straight.

Saibaba is no comparision to Dalai Lama. Ain't Saibaba a pedophile? There are many articles about that.

Anyways, I agree with Kevin on what he said earlier about Samsara. Samsara went way beyond the reason this thread was for. Sujanks has ended the thread impressingly.

Those of you who have very little or no knowledge about his Holiness the Dalai Lama, please refrain from writing any further. Don’t write anything or everything just to prove your point. The reason I am asking you to do this is please be sensitive towards the people who wholeheartedly follow his Holiness. And I want you all to know that neither I am a Tibetan nor a follower of his Holiness. I just happen to admire him.

And Samsara, you’re too e-violent to be a follower of DL.

hahaha Sheetalb, you say "Both (Sai Baba and DL) call themselves God??"  You fuggin stupid byatcchh...How much longer are you gonna keep flaunting your ignorance.  I've told you a gazillion times that there is NO God in Buddhism and the Dalai Lama is the religious/spiritual leader of the Tibetans (He is not a God!!).  hahhaa  And you expect me to believe that a Tibetan (who left family and everything materialistic belongings in Tibet and followed the Dalai Lama into exile) now gave up his green-card to get a Chinese citzenship??  And you say he wants to be called "Chinese"??  Damn, who are you shittin here?  Can someone make this ignoramus see that "she" (could even be a he or an "it" with all the anonymity in discussion forums) knows zip about the DL and Tibs and yet she tries to bring in her comments that are rejects of the Staten Island Dump-mines.  Also, where have I talked shit about the Sai baba?  You seeing things, dummazz?  I have never and never will condescend any religious head out there as they in my opinion have sacrificed a lot for society's spiritual welfare.

"Troll"iko"fool", listen, find the lines where I say the "I personally" say that I follow the DL?  Similar to the warriors of Tibet, the Khampas, who were Buddhists but still fought wars to protect their nation and the greater good, I too am the keeper of sajha (since it concerns my Nep brethern).  I will shut down anything that is irrational in my viewpoint and give you the reason why.  Also, Read above where i say I am a follower of the Kagyu (black hats) lineage instead and you're to e-stupid to understand that.

And sgy sathi, apologies...this is the rare instance that the Samsara has humbled himself.  LOL   BTW,  I don't give a rats azz about what the peeps here think as this is a public forum where those who debate are in hiding behind the net's security.  I will post what I feel is right AT THE SPUR OF THE MOMENT and there will be no editing then (I wish we had the old sajha back where editing was non-existant).  I don't need to make friends here as I already have more in real life than I can handle.  Sajha is my work-muse...Thats all!!

Finally, commentator, keep commenting...Ain't no one paying you here.  BTW, your commentary sucks BIG TYME...You need to pay us instead to read them!!  hahahahah

I dont have anything against Tibetans or Dalai Lama. BUT I don't understand why Samsara keeps on trying to convince people to agree with him. May be he is right or may be he is wrong. Why the hell you have to make people accept your thoughts by hook or crook? Ain't that a communist philosophy? Didn't you said you don't prefer communism Samsara? Your threads (other ones too) clearly shows that you argue on and on (regardless of being right or wrong). And if that fails you show your e-bullism by saying I'm a real gangsta. You can never win over communists when it comes to arguing and bullying. Samsara bro! you have those qualities.

PS: You cannot force others to agree with you or change their opinions. So, leave them alone. Don't try too hard bro. Also, I aint here to earn money for my comments. May be you do. Good Luck with that.

hahaha comentator, trying to win some commentary accolades for journalism that lacks any resemblance to truth whatsoever.  Hey, FOX5 has an opening for a senior news analyst's coffee boy/"go-for" position.  Hurry and send in your resume.  Pronto!!  BTW, Listen, I've never asked anyone to believe what I said...Its up to you to believe what is and what ain't (find refuge in Walt Whitman's leave of Grass).  All i give you is my beliefs and if you don't agree with it, I give you my rationale behind it (and yeah I can keep debating for what I perceive is the treth).  And if you feel threatened by someone over the internet, then imagine how soggy your pants would be once the real thing comes in front of you.  Be real dude, instead of whining.

And yeah, I ain't yo bro!!  "If you need a friend, go get a dog!!"  (Damn, I'd been waiting to use that Gordon Gecko line for agess).

hahaha look at this commentator fag's first post here: "Who cares abou the DL and Tibet" he asks and he lists the socio-economic-political probs in Nepal which he asks us to debate on istead....WTF??  If you aren't interested why keep barging that unwelcomed hypcrite black azz here??  As I replied to that post, if you care about an issue, why not be proactive and start a thread yaself rather than wait to follow the bandwagon like a damn bheda.  Man, hypocrite fuggers like you should've been sent into space with the sputnik2 launch and left there for good (Laika had more brains than you, dumazz).  That would've been the best riddance to the sajha community.

hahaha and it seems that you are really dying to call me your big brother.  Here's what Kanye had to say for his Big Bro (Hova)...Just make sure you do the same, wimpazz.  No sogginess in yo pants, aight??
