Everyday thousands of people pray to God ask for things from him because it makes them feel better about it. For some it's the fear of the unknown.

There is nothing God can do and the reason is very simple. The reason lies in the relativity and circular logic.

For example let's take us, human beings. We go about doing our own things. Let's say someone sneezes sending particles into the air. Each particle can develop millions of micro organisms within the particle. We cannot go deep into the sub nuclear level to see what goes on in there. There could be civilizations within that particle. There could be an organism which fears God and the god is the human being who sneezed.

In the same way, in the realm of our God, the whole milky way could be a speck of dust particle floating in God's environment. The God Civilization is completely unaware of this speck of dust but this speck of dust contains the whole universe, the whole milky way and the unexplanable void beyond which is just too large for the organisms within that speck of dust to comprehend. We do see how electrons and nucleus acts similar to the solar system so I draw the parallel universe comparision from there.

For each level of God there can be sub level creations and it can go on a circular way till we reach back on the starting God since everything about relative sizes. Relative sizes in one reality may be vastly different in different realities including different time cycles.

In conclusion, since GOD cannot ever experience or observe the minute sub sub atomic existence of their creation, they cannot in any way affect their life cycles.

So don't worry about God, and enjoy life for what it's worth.

PS: Don't take this too seriously. I just had some time to burn and this thought had been dwelling as a possibility since the god discussion some time back

Freedom, The point I was trying to make is that if you have a good conscience and a strong moral background you do not need God & Religion. btw I don't think conscience can be nurtured, you either you have it or you don't. It is universal regsrdless of where you go(don't lie, don't kill). Whereas morality is something that can be nurtured. For example what is accepted in one culture is not ok in another culture(its ok for muslims to have multiple wifes whereas its is unacceptable in ours).

Conscience does not need to be nurtured whereas morality does need to be nurtured constantly with our changing times. Yes Prachandey nurtured thousands to kill, and so do Suicide bombers. Their objective in Prachandey's case he tricked our Bhedas into believing in a Maoist Utopian Society and the sucide bombers are looking for Houri(72 virgins) in Jannah(paradise) according to Quran. Just because I used the word son you have already made a assumption without even knowing me. Just like you blindy put your faith in god as the source of everything.

If you look at the Conscience it is universal across the board regardless of where you go in this planet. People who don't have this--> like don't kill(in jail), don't steal(in jail) etc etc Where as nurture like compassion, forgiveness varies where you go. It varies from culture to culture on an individual basis. Some people are more tolerant than others and the same with compassion.

Everytime freedom gets cornered with logical and rational argument, instead of accepting it, he goes on to give an unrelated example. Like in this case the pubjabi who slips on banana skin again and again.

Even this analogy, he is describing himself. Everytime he sees any logical argument, he throws a banana skin in front so he can fall down and come up with excuses.

Let me give you an analogy that is better than your Punjabi guy analogy. At least the Punjabi guy slips on a real banana skin, whereas people who believe in religion believe that an imaginary, invisible banana skin is there on their way, and their belief is so strong that they will actually slip on that imaginary banana peel.

My friend if there is no banana peel, you don't have to imagine there is one and fall down. It looks silly to people who see reality the way it is.

i was actually referring to you and fellow Atheists as the punjabi. But am not surprised you did not get the hint....but i think that is the whole point. Atheists do not get it.

See your logic is similar to the banana skin, no matter where i put that banana skin, you and your fellow Atheists will walk on it and fall. The simple reason being you are not looking and walking.  It seems you are enjoying falling down and hitting your head on the floor.

I had like to see a thought provoking argument (scientific) and i will add on. Not moronic attempts to win an argument like using both nature and nurture to win an argument which is most self contradictory but obviously not to the mentally challenged.

I had like you to take out a sociology book and read about nature VS nurture and explain in a brief way how you fit it into your context of nurturing by using both on your side of the argument. Please give examples.

Freedom

You are not putting forth any logical arguments besides unrelated examples that don't make sense to anyone besides yourself. You are free to believe what you want, and you are free to convince yourself what you believe is right, but as seen by the responses in this thread you have not convinced anyone with your reasonings skills and specially not with your unrelated analogies.

My friend, I do get that you were trying to compare me with the punjabi. Unfortunately for you, you don't seem to get the reverse sarcasm regarding the invisible banana that you enjoy slipping on.

I am not going to continue arguing with you because at this point it is pretty evident that the following statement is so true.

"Never argue with fools - they will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience."

The premiss for the argument on morality goes thus.

"We do not need god to teach us moral values. They are common sense."

common sense does not need nurturing. People can be nurtured to do bad things also
proves that nurturing can be flexible. So there is thus no sense of objective
morality. There is no accountability for objective morality in absence of god.
In fact, you should be relying more on Nature to prove your points, not
nurturing because you will be saying then that there are a set of moral values to be
learnt. You will thus be saying that the inner inborn sense of what is right and wrong
does not matter.

""You are confused at this point because most of the moms/dads/families are heavily
influenced by religion so you fail to understand the difference between morality instilled
by surrounding/nurturing and that by religion."

This must be the most contradictory statement so far. I wonder how you manage to understand
the difference in absence of the same. In fact i have said before that we should never
discard sociology. The funny thing is while you do not live in an Atheist society, with Atheist
grandparents and parents, an Atheist upbringing, yet you think Atheism can bring forward good
moral values. You Sir, have a lot to prove on your plate.

Using my famous cake analogy, the issue is not whether the cake is tasty or not. Not whether the
cake goes bad in a few days or not. Or that cake is not good for people with diabetes. The question
is who made the cake?.

 Buddy Freedom,

I think you forgot what the topic of the debate O BOOK READING SMART ONE. he he Please scroll to the top and read the TOPIC once again. My argument was "You do not need god or religion if you have a good conscience and a strong moral background. This is not a discussion of nature vs nurture YOU MORON. oh yeah and I am mentally challenged one here now ? lol !!

Talking to this dood reminds me of an old joke about a guy who is running circles around a tree trying to fug his own ass.

I rest my case.

 Freedom's take-home message:

"Life and the cosmos are very mysterious and I cannot comprehend its underpinnings. Hence, God made it. All the progress researchers have made through thousands of years still fall short because there is so much yet to be explained. Therefore, I do not need to prove God's existence, but others have to prove its non-existence using logic and rationality, but if you do argue with logic and rationality, you're illogical."

Makes Sense! Thank you!

Freedom as I wrote earlier I am done arguing with you.

You make up things like  "you think Atheism can bring forward good moral values", which I have never said.  Saying you don't need religion for good moral values is not the same as saying atheism brings moral values. So go on, keep coming up with your own suitable conclusions and keep arguing with your own conclusions. You will make journalists proud. When someone says they don't drink tea with sugar, you will happily think that they drink tea with salt. You logics are entertaining to say the least. You are making a fool of yourself here like snup has depicted above.

Nah @ Rethink bro,

I am saying that drinking tea without sugar will not be as sweet nor  better.

Ingredient=sugar, i am not changing the ingredient, so will you please stop lying?.

Also please note that in a religion free world, morality will still need accountability. So by default you are saying that Atheism provides that accountability.

Nah @ snurp,

I am saying that God lives in a dimension where there is no time and thus no physics. Therefore, God is beyond the reach of our logic. If you come to think of it, the population of the world is 7 billion, if i were to tell you to prove to me the existence of each of these individuals, you will not be able to do it.

But they would all exist anyways.

@ bathroom,

any talk about nature and nurture, regardless of subject, appeals to the same sociological
discussion about nature vs nurture. That is why i asked you to read that thoroughly so that
you will understand the contradictions which you have already made by bringing it up.

God does not need to prove his existence to us and is least bothered. You seem to be so
interested in proving existence. The way i see it, putting roughly at about a thousand who
know about your existence, some 6, 999, 999000 people do not know that you exist.

So dont you think it is a great idea for you guys (snurp, rethink, bathroom, fellow ekalavya
sponsored Atheists who give thumbs up), to go on a mission to prove your existence because,
using your own logic, it would mean that you do not exist.

 Freedom,

I think I now get it. Please enlighten me again if i misconstrue your logic with my 'sponsored' atheism.

"God lives in another dimension that noone knows about hence God is beyond logic and question."

"I do not exist because most people don't know me ."

@ snurp,

see your argument goes thus that god should appear in front of everyone and do a gangnam style
in order to prove his existence. You will not believe individual experiences. You want to be able
to see God in order to believe and everyone should be able to see and experience.

Using this logic and your own parameters for existence, we cannot account for our own existence nor
the existence of 7 billion other human beings. I was not aware of your existence till you commented
on this thread.

The concept of "No Time" is scientific in nature. Science cannot exist without time. As God created
life including time and everything, God did so from a dimension where there is no time nor science.
The belief in eternal god is perfectly scientific from this viewpoint. Science believes the same thing
that big bang created time and science. They however cannot account for an unconscious origin.

Since God lives in a place where there is no science, you do not use Science to experience him. This is
where faith comes in.  Now the question as to how to access this dimension is mysterious but i can tell
you one thing. One does not access this dimension by sitting duck. This is where praying, meditation can
help.

When i was little, i used to wonder why not the government print more money and give a million bucks to
everyone and then poverty would be gone. When i became older, i found out that humans have messed up the
world to an extent that we cannot even help ourselves. So why would God help us?.

So let me get this straight one last time ---

Your god is so powerful that HE lives in another dimension inaccessible & unknowable to us trivial humans. He is so powerful that he created us from a timeless dimension yet provided us with multiple dimensions including that of space and time. And yes! he also threw in laws of physics just in case because anything simpler would be LESS DIVINE!

Although he's inaccessible and elusive, somehow a rational yet a faithful pupil found HE does exist. Oh wait! God also implanted that thing. He thought I gotta give him bit of "faith" so the poor creature knows I EXIST and he can pray and have faith in me cause that makes me feel good, which is good for him as well ! But let me not give this "talent"  to MILLIONS OF OTHER SPECIES. THEY ARE TO REMAIN DUMB!  And finally just to mix things up a little more, also gotta give them males Nipples. (so that they don't feel left out). OOPS! I did that during happy hour.

This is crystal clear. Freedom, I have a request -- instead of calling your arguments logical and scientific, perhaps you should just call them "DIVINE" since you figured this shit out man! Bravo!

Lol snurp the reference to male nipples is mad funny. The old man out there probably made the male nipple provision keeping in mind the rights of gays to enjoy suckling on nipples while having sex.

No wonder people like freedom can't stop hailing the glory of the old man. He is so impressive.

@snurp,

In debate you should use Science to create those ripples.
Divine knowledge is not about genitalia or nipples,

Inspite of all the complaints you have againsts god, if god were to appear before you
and say, "Yes i made life this way.", you will still wet your pants and kneel before him,
no questions asked.

You are struggling with the concept of a loving god and therefore reject god on that basis,
rather than any scientific facts. "There is no god because i have male nipples", and yet
somehow convince yourself with that.

I hope you will wake up before you sleep.

One of the statements below is a scientific theory. Can you tell which?.

1) A man was carrying a million piece jigsaw puzzle and the plane he was flying
exploded and each pieces of the puzzle landed on earth and lo and behold, they landed
perfectly to form the mona lisa.

2) A man was making coffee in his coffee machine and bang the machine exploded and lo
and behold, there was a starbucks outlet right there.

3) Suddenly there was a big bang and out came life, plants, animals, and all the planets,
with the sun at a perfect distance from earth for life to flourish.

4) A man was making soup one morning and there was a loud bang and lo and behold,
the next thing he knew, he was the ceo of campbell soup.

5) A man was driving his tempo in kathmandu and then there was a loud bang and lo and behold,
his tempo had turned into a million lamborghinis.
