Happy Republic Day!
Happy Republic Day to all of us! We are now almost two decades into being a proud, sovereign Republic and we hope things will get better from now on as we are done patiently whining and cursing the old ones for all the loot since they decided to get rid of monarchy and become mini-Maharajas themselves.
Our great Republic was born in 2008 thanks to our Southern chimeki and the EU wallahs who decided to inspire our then lawmakers to get rid of the monarchy. The inspiration came from boras of cash, free scholarships for their kids and other gift hampers.
I think the right way would have been to hold a public referendum like the Swiss do for everything over there on whether we want a monarchy because they provide better value as Chief Guests for our jatras in Kathmandu Valley or we want the old chors to act like sons and brothers of Dhir Shumsher!
Looking back, we have to ask our old school chor netas, their jholeys and those in power for the past two decades what we have achieved as a Republic? It was never about Gana-Tantra; it was all about Loot-Tantra. We have to either thank or shame most of us for keeping quiet, getting forked from left to right by our chor netas, hakims, shady byaparis and dalals!
If it weren't for the Gen Z massacre, we would still have either Oli or Deuba giving the hawa-taari guff at the Republic Day celebration in Tundikhel today. PM Balen has given the old school nataks a big middle finger and has made the old fogie our President RCP give an hour-long speech and make him work hard for his perks!
Our achievements since we became a Republic, or should I say our problems, are breaking the Guinness Book of World Records in youth emigration, politicization of all branches of the government and the wild shameless corruption from the federal to the provincial and even local levels.
Today, our economy relies mostly on the blood, sweat and tears of foreign remittances and our major export is our own folks. We replaced the Royal Palace for mini palaces where power was shared by three stooges, our great Oli, Deuba and Prachanda.
Oli made many shady byaparis billionaires. Deuba made his son a billionaire. Prachanda did the same for his near and dear ones and especially his two daughters, who are Indian citizens by marriage but have tasted the political power in our land! His granddaughters are living the high life overseas while thousands of rebels who fought for him are barely surviving.
The comeback of the Monarchy is permanently out the window. The Republic is here to stay. Khusbu Oli can focus on something other than trying to think of RPP as a Nepali version of BJP!
I blame no one but King Gyanendra for losing the crown because he couldn't even navigate basic political chess, and watching Prachanda and Oli scream about 'Saving the Republic' is a pure comedic masterpiece. It's like two captains gobbling up all the steel inside the Titanic and then barking about how they will save the ship from sinking,
Yes, our grand Republican ship has been hitting massive economic icebergs for years but thanks to our remittances, we have not completely sunk, and we are hopeful that the Balen government will provide us the lifeboats to save us all.
Welcome to the real 'Republic' where the government and the shady byaparis and politicians and their cousins do not rip off the public. The only we can move forward is to offer better services to the public who pay the bills and not the shady byaparis who fake the VAT bills! It's time to educate our youth, provide them with opportunities and resources to be financial literate and skilled enough to compete globally.
The ship is damaged but we have a new crew in town. Let them do their work and in five years, our RPP wallahs or even the old school chor guards and even Harka can go knocking on our doors and try to convince us that we need the Monarchy, or the same old Congress UML Maoist (CUM) mili-juli loot or we should go back to the stone carrying age!
