I would suggest a Honda Civic. I have been driving a 97 honda civic and its pretty good. gives you good gas mileage too. But before you buy a used car, especially from a private seller, make sure you take it to a mechanic (one you can trust) and make sure that there are no major defects. otherwise used cars might give you a lot of problems (leaving you to spend a lot on maintenance and repair and all that). check www.craigslist.org or if you are in one of the cities where there are a lot of Deshis, they might give you a decent deal if they are going back to India for good). Good luck with your car search!

Corolla is certainly a great choice. At 161K (1996 model), mine is still running great. Civic should be comparable, closely followed by the Sentra. You may want to do some more research at www.edmunds.com to compare different vehicles. I found that site very helpful when I was in the market myself.

Nissan and Honda are more expensive than american cars. I also want to buy a car. I saw last week a car with Nissan 98 model Milage run : 167000 mi Cost : 4600 Is that right to buy? I got one old model too. It was just 700 but 84 model. Can you give some suggestion that for Honda and Nissan, is there any relation between cost and the milage run? For example for 200000 milage run nissan what is the appropriate price? And which one is better to buy from a dealer or an individual?

Now a days the price for used car are going high. With $3000 budget you have to shop around.IF you drive standard car may get better deal than automatic one. Your friend is right, Japanese car last longer than American. I am driving Hoda with 225K and hoping to add another 100K or until its drivable with little cost. You must be aware of mainteance cost in coming future as you are buying a used car. Mechanics are like butcher and they will ripe you off depending upon your knowledge on automible. IF someone says - timing belt is changed, Tuned up, exel shaft or exhaust has been changed is good for you. Better have a mechanic look and recommend if possible and VIN check is must. You will know if the audiometer is run backward and shown low mileage. You must see if it is leaking or not. If the engine is too clean have 2nd thought why too clean. I have seen people cleanig the engine and make them nice.

Everyone knows it here... The three desi brands you guys name it.. they would say it.. Toyota Honda and nissan... Thats the brown peoples ride. We are cheap mean and we want more out of our product then the normal. If you are brown man with family i your ride here in the US is Toyota Camry or Honda Accord. If you are single your perfect ride would be Honda CIVIC or Toyota Corolla or Nissan Sentra.. Now i aint saying that every brown people would drive it.. its just the significant number of people who do. Just get out of that.. cliche and DRIVE ACURA like i do.. With 3000$ i dont know what kind of acura would you be getting do some research.... I recomend you to buy a new car.. no maintainance prob and no headaces if you have a decent income.. But watch out for that monthly bill... Aight best of luck for your car search.. I love american cars though i use drive Expedition i loved it by all means.. at certain point of your life time comes when you just feel like boy isnt this 8 seater lonely for me? lol Thats get a 2 door and enjoy the fun car.. good luck
