recent experience nepal passport no issue, problem in us passport, entry denied, someone had to go back n come via different route. i think this is a trade war making issue for american and chinese. better take visa or reroute, it might be ok but it might be mess. for nepali passportholder no issue at all

going to nepal, interrogated 3 hrs entry denied, back to usa take turkish again no problem. other 3 people carrying nepali passport with visa no problem

I can't see transit visa category at Chinese Embassy Washington DC website. Any insight on transit visa? or url? You mentioned Nepali passport holder with Transit visa. Do they have transit visa acquired from US or from Nepal?

for nepali no transit or business visa required i have travelled visa china southern many tmes without issue i have nepali passport. but only problem seen with usa passport holder,n its recent time only, u might want to take tourist visa payng 50 dollars or contact china southern, or just go without visa if nothing happens its good if problem come back n take other air

Here's the real info: no issue for Nepali passports if the transit is less than 24 hours. If transit is going to be more than 24 hours, the airlines won't even let you board the plane at JFK if you don't have Chinese visa. For US passport, no such issues. They will put you in a hotel in Guangzhou if your transit is longer than 24 hours, and the airlines will drop you at the hotel and pickup again next day.
