Let me tell you my story first.. Couple of months back, I signed up for comcast internet, when I signed up for their service they told me that if I am not satisfied using their service and if I cancel their service within 30 days, I would not be charged anything. So I tried their service, did not get proper reception so I canceled it with 15 days of getting the service. I went to the comcast physical location (where I received the equipment from) and I returned all the equipments, the comcast representative told me that I should not worry about any amount as I was under the 30 days trial period. She gave me the return equipment receipt and everything. I thought everything was settled there and then. Later after a month I started receiving the calls from collection agency saying that I have a balance that I owe to comcast and they're calling me receive the amount. I told them I do not owe comcast and by balance is zero. Later, I went to comcast and asked them if I owed them anything, they told me my balance is zero and I do not own them anything. I also mentioned them why I was getting those calls from collections agencies, they said their system might not have been updated. They told me to give couple of days and see if I still receive the calls from the collection agency. Recently, when I checked my credit report, it's saying my score is Good, and couple of credit bureaus are showing as Fair.. (i had excellent credit score before), and the poor credit was due to the derogatory points because of the collection debt that was put on my account. Now, I am seeking suggestions either from anyone who has been through such situation or who has the knowledge on what actions to be taken next. I do not see any fault on my side and I see that Comcast is the one who had played a key role to mess up with my credit score which in turn is a big loss for me. (Note: The amount is not that high, it's just $90) Last edited: 03-Dec-15 11:21 PM

Sorry to hear that, just login into the credit reporting agency's website which has derogatory mark on your report, ex transunion, and you can file a dispute. It is self explanatory and it will be fixed in couple of days, nothing to worry about if you do not owe anything, good luck
