Worth a try since you said its Voluntary. Can you explain the voluntary situation though ? I mean he got caught by DHS / ICE ? or what happened after that ..did he get a court hearing / expedited removal proceedings etc ? A person I know got deported from airport from a return back home ...he applied for a VISA again but did not get it multiple times.

If voluntary departure without illegal stay, i see no issue. If deported, 10 years ban after 1996

Thank you all. I really appreciate all your inputs. @fdpower: According to the guy, he says he was caught by DHS while he was working based on a complaint by his coworker. Immigration judge le voluntary departure ko lagi eligibility deko ho as fas as I understand and remember. It was not expedited removal proceeding though. Thank you all.
