Dear all,
I want to join a IT training "consultancy" after I graduate( in a few months ) since everyone tells me its the best way to land a job.
Online forums show plethora of IT companies around NY/NJ area but all have very mixed reviews.
MY BACKGROUND:
I will be on my OPT (bachelor's) with an IT degree so STEM extension is possible.

MY QUESTION:
Can anyone suggest me what are the things you need to be aware of while joining these desi companies for training and placement? Like negotiation wise, what are the things I need to make sure before joining them?
I hear they trap you into crazy contracts that are downright unethical? What type of contracts are more common than others? what are the things that raises a red flag?
If its not possible to publicly display such information then please PM me :)

- A "pagal huna ateko" F1 student

Dude, my dad was a very ethical person and i learnt one thing in life ethics and morality are relative terms. He had chances to be rich but he chose not to. I wanted to follow him but wherever i applied for job, i was told to look for a job in Hotel / Restaurants as that's what was on my resume. It was really embrassing that one manager of a Tech company called me and told me i would never get a job as i had no internships or any tech experience. He told me just a degree in computer science was not enough. Had nowhere to go.
Finally found out about Geek IT Solution, a consultancy based in Kansas. Did a DevOps training from Shawn dai and now working. Whatever career you choose please land on a good consultancy. Mero elder dai landed in another consultancy and was unable to find a job for 7-8 months. He gave up and went back for masters.
Please make a wise choice. My 2 cents brother/sister.

you need to access the power of your sub-conscious mind my brother. your sub-conscious mind that makes blood in your body and grows muscles and digests your food is the same intelligence that makes the planets and universe run in their path. Although it may seem like hard and unbelievable thing to do but if you learn to access and work with your subconscious mind you can pursue anything in life. check videos of joseph murphey on youtube. check Émile Coué on google. everyday , before you go to bed and when you first wake up in the morning. say this," everyday in everyday, I am getting better and better" like 20 times. you subconscious will hear you job, gc etc etc are very small things although right now in your life seems like a big deal .. if you have free time read some books on power of attractions such as "secrets" .

hi twiggy! by IT, do you mean you computer science? if you are indeed a computer science major or have taken CS courses, you should be able to find at least some internship in tech field. Review back your notes from college(relevant chapters from CRLS book), prepare for tech interview (Cracking the code is a good one), practice online (leetcode.com) as you prepare for tech interviews. More than that, apply for as many jobs as you can. As I was searching for jobs after graduation last year, I made applying for jobs essentially my full-time work. I would research, reach out and apply to at least 15 jobs every day. By the end of 1 month, I had a hard time coming with companies that I hadn't applied or hadn't researched.

As months progressed, I got more used to the tech interviews and landed more and more tech interview. I eventually got a full time job at an actual tech company. I suggest you can join a consultancy while you look for a full time job at a tech company.

The road is hard and the times are dire, but have faith in the education you have received and the effort a desperate man can put in.

Good luck!

whatislove bro,
it is very obvious that whatislove, shawn, john123, and many more usernames are same person or at least working for the same interest. When you keep on mentioning geek it geek it on every post, it is extremely clear. Nice approach on using pathos on this post though!

Good Luck to your consultancy.

Bhisan,
CS haina MIS. I have taken a few CS courses, but as I mentioned in my previous post 3 months ma ke nai hola ra? I had initially thought about applying for entry-level jobs myself (with no external help from job placement companies) but its so hard, the " have to find a job within 90 days of graduating" rule is what's making me look into consultancies. My biggest fear is, what if I can't find a job in next 1-2 months by myself and its already too late to take training and stuff ? But I like your suggestion too, look jobs myself and join a consultancy company in the meantime.

Thank you for the encouraging words, its comforting to know I am not the only one who is/was going through this. Hopefully things will get better ! Thanks

Finding entry level job can be very difficult even in IT field. If you got lucky and got an entry level job. they will pay you pathetic amount of salary. I remember one company offering me $24000 on Entry level job. That can be a good way to get started and build your resume but seeing all your friends graduated at same time and making six figures makes your heart cry.

Obviously I didn't took that position and moved on to finding job through consultancy. Its great way to get started although its unethical & against moral for some people.

As far as, what to look for while joining?
-Find a reputed company that people you know have gone through and get information about them.
- Try to actually learn stuffs you will work on. Some companies just tries to place you without providing enough knowledge to sustain at job.
- Decide on what you want to work on and stick to that (I have seen alot of people switching around different technologies and never got job)
- Ask for benefits including health insurance.
- try to take interviews yourself.
