I was wondering if anyone has travelled outside of US while they were in TPS and also some other status, say valid F1 ? My question is, will you retain both status while entering US or do you have to let go one of them in the port-of-entry?

Thanks!

I just came back from Nepal with a new F1 visa, after i had received the TPS approval letter from USCIS before leaving. Neither the US embassy or the people at the port of entry asked me anything about it.

However, there are conflicting ideas in the online forums on what happens to your TPS after you leave the country. Some say you will lose your TPS while others say if you donot apply for EAD, you can keep it.

Perhaps you should call USCIS customer support using the phone number provided in the bottom on the following page.

Thank you for this thread.

ctaldigital, did you get any further information on this?

I am planning to go to nepal around April and re-apply for F1 visa. I am NOT applying for advanced parole for the visit. I am also wondering what happens to TPS after I travel in F1.

Wondering if anyone has information/experience on this. I went through few threads on sajha on F1 and TPS but didn't find info on this.

Thanks,

In theory if you leave the country without AP you lose TPS.When you renew they will ask for you I94 which will show that you did not parole and that will cause issue while renewing. That applies to any status even H1b anytime you leave country you have to have AP.

I went last year in TPS while on F1. My F1 visa was expired and I did not chose to renew it.

I suggest you to take the AP go to Nepal get a F1 renewal and come back on TPS AP. (Although I do not know the consequences of this)
