Hello Dashain is right around the corner and I am getting ready to go to Kathmandu like I do almost every year. It seems that every time I travel to Nepal, my checked in luggage and my carry on are almost overweight and I fear getting hassled at the airport. Does anyone else here have the same problem? Please share your experiences. Do you get stressed out about being over the weight limit when you receive wish lists from friends and family? My luggage is very close to being overweight mostly because of the यो ल्याइदेउ , त्यो ल्याइदेउ requests from family and friends. I usually don't have any issues at the airport if I am just a few pounds over, but sometimes the airport staff ask me to redistribute my luggage to my other bags or carry on luggage. Don't tell anyone except for close friends. If someone asks later on why you didn't inform, just say you wanted to surprise your mom or dad.

@stanley: I always weigh my luggages before I go to the airport because that's what a smart person does.

Thanks for chiming in, samitabaral. You are obviously very smart. I have read your other very "witty" posts . And yes, I always weigh my luggage as well, and most people who travel internationally do the same. I am usually close to being overweight - not necessarily overweight. Sometimes, if I am a few pounds over, they let me off the hook at the airport and sometimes they ask me to redistribute the luggage amongst my check in and carry on bags. The point of my post was to ask people to share their experiences and to find out if they get stressed out about going over the weight limit after they get a long wish list from friends and family By the way, it is luggage. Not luggages.

Buy one digital hanging luggage scale, $10 on amazon and pack your bags accroding to weight allowed. No need to stress out. I do this always. And i check at the airport, the weight is similar, so its accurate.
