Any new updates, any new hope guys? Do u think supreme court would uplift the hold this friday (Jesth 26). I think for NRNs it's a nice to have thing since there is already nrn card for us but i saw there r roughly 7 lakhs sons and daughters of Nepali ctzns who were born in Nepal but are denied Nepali citizenship because of lack of law. It's so sad to see that some of them are already 40 and cant even buy sim card or get covid vaccine.

There is a question why President Ram Chandra poudel signed this document when it was on "HOLD." The nagarita bidheyak was passed by previous samsad which is now replaced by a new samsad. There is a rule that after bidheyak is on hold for a longer period of time then the new ruling president cannot just open the file and sign and do pramanikaran. If that is the case, what happens to the Cholendra's case? It looks like no body is interested in opening Cholendra's case!

Isnt the point is that the bidheyak shouldn't have been on hold for more than 15 days the second time it was turned in to the ex president? Why no body made the fuss about it when such unconstitutional act was done by the ex president. Seems like this president is only trying to clean the mess left by the last president.
Oli was the one who issued aataydesh , and once madeshi partys' support was no longer needed had ex president stop it. It was the same bidheyak , line by line.

Supreme court may order to activate expired bidhayek in parliament for discussion, will have to wait and see this Friday what supreme court rules out.

The best outcome and probably most logical one is for the Supreme Court to declare the amendment valid, stating that it came into effect on the day the former president unlawfully chose not to certify it. The Nepali constitution does not contain any provision allowing the incumbent president to unilaterally decline signing legislation into law after it has been resubmitted to them. Also, the current president should have requested the current Samsad to re-pass the law before certifying it. People, especially Nepali politicians, do whatever they please, creating problems for others. There are tens of thousands, probably hundreds of thousands of Nepali, who cannot get citizenship. They thought they could finally get it for a moment and are now back in limbo. This situation is utterly nonsensical.

90 % per of Nepals problem is because judiaciary branch doesn’t does its job or it’s corrupt. Expecting supreme to court to fix anything is too much to expect.

Right after old president didn’t sign bill within 15 days , there was law suit to clearify whether president has to sign or what will happen if they don’t 15 days. It it considered automatically approved . Supreme Court dragged that case for 9 month even though they set high priority in the beginning. It’s wouldn’t have come to this situation if they would have just done they job.

EDV, its Prakash man singh raut and Sushma lata mathema. If im not wrong, Mr Raut was appointed in 2016 when Prachanda was prime Minister and MS Mathema was appointed in 2019 when Oli was the PM. So can we comfortably say this bill is fked?

I guess in the long run it will be good. But in the short term there will be capital flight with most middle class people selling property and taking the money overseas. But then gradually people will start investing knowing they have the option to bring it back whenever needed

The ctzp law won't allow one to take their capital from selling properties legally. There are already laws against such activities and they will remain as they are. Yes, people might try illegal ways(not necessarly unethical tho since it's their property) but that is already happening currently and recenty with tight watch from Nepali authorities few are getting busted too.
I think this law gives incentives to keep NRN properties in Nepal and motivates NRN to do productive things with them by bringing new investments. If there are no legal rights for NRNs to maintain their properties then they are forced to do legal/illegal stuffbto bring their money where they reside permanently. At the end of rhe day its their money. As long as it wasnt earned by illegal means they should be able to do whatever they want with it.
