I am not an expert but always try to follow stock related thread for learning purpose..So I am daring to share my knowledge here..

Bisalji,

Stock market does not always go on uptrend..If it were, everybody would jump into market. As Warren Buffet rightly said: You can not have baby in a month by making nine women pregnant..It is all about timing and how smart you play in market to get in and out..If I were you,I would sell stocks on next week bounce.

dipulataji,

Market cap of Heinz for 07/02/2009 was 11.2805B.

Closing price of Heinz for 07/02/2009 was 35.80..Multiply that with No. Of Shares 315.10M..You will get Market cap of 11.2805..

I guess the recession wiped all our so called stock expert's portfolios. Although, I admit it did make a small dent in mine too... Still waiting for a good entry point but till then I will rather spend my time soaking some sun in the pool..

Am still here.  Previous stock thread seems to have been buried, I guess people lost interest.

My portfolio has taken a hit recently due to the market downturn.  But I am sure it will come back up.  Gotta have some risk tolerance to play this game.

dipulata,
if you open this link in yahoo
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ks?s=HNZ

there is a section called "Share Statistics" you can get your information from there.

i am no expert but here are few rules to follow by:
1. invest only that one can afford to lost
2. do your homework before jumping into stock
3. do not get greedy. set a target price when you buy a stock and follow it.
4. lock in profit when your target is reached. capital preservation is key.

Stock expert ?  that is me.. why .. what do u want...

market will fall down over next few weeks and then maybe rise..

mark this post

My outlook for next 6 months

s&p to 820  then a rally to 990... then a collapse...  around oct/nov/dec we will see a big sell off and break march 2009 lows .

Gold to $1300 and dollar will rally too.. well im not too confident abt the dollar raly.. but we could see 1.32 on eur/usd...

Sold C, AIG (lost lot of money after 20:1), HEB, FNM. After little research bought cheap stocks which used to be very high.

I know these are risky stocks but no risk no gain. For example I had bought GWSC at .33cents and sold it for $3 made more than $3000.

See what happens to these stocks.

GEYI

I violated #3 and #4 of THAPAP's rules.  I admit.  Shame on me!

My portfolio was 24% up.  Should've rung the cash register and taken the profit.  But noooooo, got too greedy.  So now my portfolio is 4% down.  Not too bad, but still....

If I do not see some pull-back by end of next week, I have to think up a strategy.

Well, as I said, you gotta have some amount of risk tolerance to play in the market.

As long as you steer clear of Financials and Construction, all should work out fine...Just stick to Consumer Staples, Utilities and Health Care and your portfoli should not feel the wrath of the current volatility we're facing day in day out.  That would be the best bet for 401Ks and IRAs out there.  If you're more of a risk-seeker, then this is defn not the tip for you.  May the markets be kind to you all.

Live Long and Prosper.

Sold AIG, now it gained $2.26 today. Should I buy it again or just wait to fall down?

@lato_boy: do you have some kind of magic mirror that you got pulled out those numbers from? Wow, I wish I could get that specific...
@Samsara: Consumer staples and utilities and normally health care are classic recession buys but health care this time around can be a little volatile taking into account what is going on, don't you think?
@bisal: I would stay 10 miles away from AIG if I were you. It might go up, but at this point, I think the risk tremendoulsy out-weighs he benefit
