Amending a tax return help

I guess many of you know that F1 student filing for tax return and getting $1000. One of my friend wants to return that money to IRIS.  Does anybody know how do i do that? IF anybody could help me step by step process that would be great. Somebody told me he has to file 1040X but he needs help on filing up that. Please let me know if anybody could help him. Thanx
