" as fast as in US" ?? MNO are you kidding me? I was there last year and the actual speed was slower than a 56K modem in the US, like 10 years ago.

It's fast to browse sites hosted in Nepal but not international.

For people who work in computer, there are net which is as fast as in USA. At my home it cost Rs 1100 per month as fast as in USA . Can watch all youtube videos and photo upload in facebook in a minute. Net speed also depends upon your computer processor.

You must have gone to some cybercafe where they are using old style box computer. Yes they are slow, takes half hour to upload anything.

@mno
here is my internet speed ...
i will put that in terms of kbps for you:
20.69 mbps = 21186.56 kbps (urs--> 384 :P)

and FYI net speed doesnt really depend on your processor only!!  it depends on several factors... too lazy to go into details
however mostly your internet speed depends on bandwith from your ISP..
so sorry to say it's not as fast as in us"
and a 5 min utube video in my apt takes  seconds(around 6-10 seconds) to buffer not a minute :D

 indeed eventhough i was paying Rs 2000 a month for ADSL from telecom, it was miserable to surf the internet or watch youtube in Nepal when i was there for couple of months this year.

there are faster internet services in Nepal but nowhere near to the US standard and it would cost a fortune for FASTER internet connection at home.

sharing ratio means the no of line sharing same physical media path to access the internet. so 1:10 means that 10 customers will share same media path to internet.
