The open border policy should be closed and regulated.

When you have a porous border between two countries, the people who are worse off in their own country will try to go to the other country for their livelihood. This means Indians who are worse off in India come to Nepal and vice versa. But the issue at hand is the economies of scale. Even with simple mathematics Nepal is at a big disadvantage. Let's say 1% of Nepalis go to India and 1% of Indians go to Nepal. 1% of Indian population is 26 million while 1% of Nepali population is 291 thousand. Leaving border open means allowing Indians to seep into Nepali population by sheer osmosis. Once the population of India starts booming in Nepal, they will start asking for rights and their demands will tilt more towards India since they have ties in India. In due time there will be more Indian-tilted people in Nepal and Nepal will be helpless to save it's own sovereignty.

The events thesedays in Madhesh is a proof of this actually happening. If borders are not closed and regulated, then in next 10 years there will be greater issues and worse ramifications for the general Nepali population.

India's mission since 1960's to annex Nepal originally by bullets did not come true. Now they have changed their strategy and are on their way to annex our country by ballots.
Most of our politicians post 1990's revolution were previously educated in India mainly in Patna and Banaras some were even bought by RAW. GP Koirala was the worst of all for having distributed hundreds of thousands of citizenship to Indian nationals living at the border.
The open border with India definitely needs to be closed. It may make life harder for nepalese migrant workers in the beginning. But the government and the business leaders of Nepal will need to find ways to develop nepal's economy so that the need to migrate will diminish.
And this is my personal opinion, as a nepali, each and every one has to try to make some effort to listen and watch our own music and movies. We need to make individual efforts to cultivate our own culture. Money spent watching a hindi movie is money taken away from nepalese movie, nepalese economy.

In addition to the aforementioned issue, Nepal needs to be cautious about terrorists crossing the border freely. Thesedays terrorists want to cause damage to anything they can get their hands on in order to make news. Let us pray that nothing of that sort ever happens in Nepal. Border needs to be regulated ASAP.

That is very true. The open border is in India's intrest than that of nepal. The region of india that shares border is the most backward in all of india. If you have been to the main border points like Biratnagar, Bhairahawa, Birgunj, Nepalgunj Etc. you will see that the Nepalese side of the border is much Developed and has a lot of Employement opportunities than the Indian side of the border. If you are at these border towns you will see that a lot of indians are running businesses and working menial jobs as well. Nepali border towns have created jobs for these indians and a lot of economic stimulation in these bordering areas of india, which India itself has not been able to develop so far. The madhesi looking people in these main Border towns are mostly indians.Real Nepali madhesi People live in the far flung out villages with no roads and development infrastructures just like the rest of nepal. They want nothing to do with the agitations going on right now. Anyway, If our borders had been in areas around New delhi, Mumbai bangalore or other developed areas of india would they still keep it open?? No. They are keeping the current borders open so that they can infiltrate nepal with their people and have their way in influencing nepal and it fate, meanwhile providing a better life for the poverty stricken population of their most backward, illeterate, and corrupt population.
