I am graduating this MAY and I want my parents to be here at the time. Apart from an invitation letter from my University, what else do I need to send to parents so that they can apply for the visa? Do I need to send my transcripts? Also, how early can they apply for the visa? Is there a minimum number of months/days before intended entry to the US for my parents to apply for visa? Put in another way, can they apply for a visa in december/january to come to the US in MAY?

Your comments and info would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

My fellow countryman,

In my case, I would send:

graduation schedule, official invitation letter from University, Financial Affidavit letter stating who is going to be responsible for their travel expenses, medical and accomodation expenses during their stay etc. The letter should also assure why they don't have any intention of staying here.

Besides all supporting documents that convince the visa consulate to issue the visa to your parents.

Hope this helps,

Good Luck.

As far as I know, there is no restriction for applying. But still I would suggest not to invite them before few month, if you are graduating on may i would suggest you to invite them not before Feb coz it doesnt make sense if they are only coming for graduation. But once they come they can come anytime after that as they will have five years multiple visa so just be careful on that.

I have invited my parents and they got visa easily and the documents I have sent is the invitation letter, my paystubs as im in H1, my H1 documents and invitation from my company with proof of employment.

but if you are just student just invitation letter is good from your side, and some financial documents from Nepal showing your Parents actually afford going here.

So best of luck for that. I am sure they will get it

just write me if you have query i can help you on that
