according to the LINCOLN-KENNEDY logic of re-incarnation theory is it fair to say that every time they re-incarnate they will be assassinated? is that how it works? it's like saying that if you commit suicide you will end up in hell going through an infinite loop of having to commit suicide over and over again. By the same logic if these guys re-incarnate they will be assassinated in each of their new lives by the same re-incarnated psycho who killed them in their past life. that sucks ass for these guys

If re-incarnation is a natural phenomenon then how come the estimated world population was 2 Billion in1927 but 6 Billion by the year 2000? Where did these extra 4 Billion people appear from, if re-incarnations really occur? Re-incarnation has been a major tool that some elite religious leaders have used to maintain the status quo.

Even though, I don't believe in re-incarnation, I do believe in carnation that lightens up my morning coffee.. If I may add, I don't believe in a car-nation either which encourages workers to drive longer distances to their work-places thus creating the opportunity for oil-men to sell more petroleum products.

Believing or not-believing on reincarnation does not change the truth. And we don't know what the truth is. But we know there is no second chance of life.

here is the paradox. if one does not remember anything about their past life, how is one to prove that reincarnation is real?

Good paradox.
If one does not remember their dream, does it mean they don't dream? Interesting analogy to your comment.

Sab_Nepali_KoSathi, this is an awesome answer! LOL!

I kind of believe in reincarnation but I am not going to admit it in public. If I admit it then I will look like a hypocrite when I say that I find it weird that Christians believe in virgin birth and Muslims believe in the whole seventy-two houri thing. So I am going to say that I don't believe in reincarnation and am an atheist. This way I can keep pretending to be amazed when other people believe in 'wacky' things. After all, I am smarter-than-thou.

Khairey, you wrote:

You are right. Believing or not believing in reincarnation does not change the truth. But it does change how you live your life. This is a big topic in America.

As you well know, President Barack Obama is trying to pass many reforms in the health care system. So one of the big issues that advocates in the health system are discussing is how should American's should view death. Many American's really fear death. And it is understandable. If there is only one life to live then you have to invest everything that you have in maintaining this life. That is why keeping people on life support is such a controversial issue. One reason that American health care system is so expensive is because of this issue.

That is why, unlike in Nepal where the young respect the elderly, in America, the old respect the young.

Your thoughts?

Never was there a time when I did not exist, nor you, nor all these kings; nor in the future shall any of us cease to be. As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from childhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change. (2: 12-13)

Worn-out garments are shed by the body; Worn-out bodies are shed by the dweller within the body. New bodies are donned by the dweller, like garments. (2:22)

When i read the comments posted in this thread, i felt nepali intelectuals ( I feel most of the people here in sajha are intelectuals) never enter in the realm of critical thinking. Some body asks "do u believe in reincarnation", and there comes flood of openions. No one raise the question what exactly is reincarnation? What is it that get reincarnate? We are nothing but associations, identifications, ideas, openions and so on which form a reality for us. We as a person which we feel as I or me with a continuity that we identify and recongnise is always within  this reality.  This reality is made, enhanced and nourished according to ones environement, personal inclination,  and so on. In this sense reality is not absolute. Now the question is does this reality reincranet? That is to say, does greed reincarnet? In simple form, does my last name reincarnate? Is it yr question? Now for the question is what is beyond reality? Is there any thing that is independent of this reality? If there is something independent of reality (remeber brith and death falls within my reality) then what is the  meaning of reincarnation? I really dont get any thing beyond this point.

where do we come from?? from nowhere...???? does it sound logical that we come from nowhere?? are we just a physical entity???we are a part of this whole existence..which we understand nothing of. and can only make sense of physical entities with the help of science. but  what about the codings of this whole existence...could all it be coincidence..??dont you think there is a language which runs this whole program just like a computer language running the show.... these codings i  try to decipher with my own logic as a hobby....and about death and re-incarnaton...this is what i think.

After we die..our physical body is left to rot..but the thoughts and ideas our brain produced or recieved from another realm ,  set of traits that made up our personality..and many other abstract enities as a result of our physical existence..is relesed into a realm right here in our environmet which we are unable to get a sense of. because the abstract was never born,, it never dies...it was always there and will always be.it is just released from our body to scatter into the realm which we are unaware of. see our brain is like a radio recever..believe it or not..some ideas occur to many people at the same time..and ideas are like radio signals..some brains are able to recieve while others are not.. has it ever happened to you that you are humming a song quietly..and someone else appears out of nowhere singing the same song...and you wonder how is that possible..and they dont have slightest idea of what u were humming..it happens to me a lot...and it is something i tried to find a lot about...but theres no explanation about this phenomenon. so i have concluded that...our brains are like radio recievers which just recieves the set of characters, ideas , and many other abstract signals that are already present in a realm from where they are being emited. so when we die the unqiue sets of abstract signals which makes up our personality is released into that realm and they begin their transmission again..the cycle goes on..and when these abstract signals are picked up by a human brain it  is called re incarnation. these abstract signals may or may not come as a whole package..they could very well break up and be transmitted to many different recievers or be transmitted as a whole to one individual reciever. so re-incarnation could be partial or whole. in partial reincarnation only certain abstract values, entities are are recieved by a brain and in whole reincarnation the whole set of abstarct entiies is recieved by a brain. and the person becomes exactly the person who died possesing those set of  abstract characters.
when i say brain as a reciiever of these entities..its not an adult brain that i am talking about. its the brain of an newborn baby..which is very actively recieving signals. these babies later grow up to become exactly the person who died possesing those abstract set of characters in a whole reincarnation or partially the in partial reincarnation.

so the moral of the story is..we are all reincarnations...and you better believe this. :)

Yes I believe in rebirth. Every life is a continual flow of two separate entities: mind (chitta) and body. Mind and body creates a personality of "I". What we call "I" is nothing more than a complex and intricate association of mind and body. When our body dies, mind remains behind. Our mind has a very deep attachment towards body. This deep attachment we can experience in our day to day life too. For example, when fire or weapon touches our body how do we feel, when disease impacts our body how do we experience. These are just few examples that show that we do have strong attachement towards our body. This strong attachment towards the body is obvious at the moment of death. Means when this body dies that means when this body cannot operate anymore, our deeply attached mind seeks another body. Thus, mind creates another birth conceivement. If our mind would be totally detached towards this body and personality belief of I, then the rebirth would not be possible as in the case of highly attained spiritual masters or also called as arahat. Rest of others except these attained spiritual master, will take rebirth. But to which existence the rebirth will take place, it depends upon many many factors such as mental volition at the moment of death, the person's kamma at the moment while he was living etc.
It is my belief. Just a belief.

I believe in reincarnation but the bad part is I know all my previous lifes. I used to be fly in Kenya, kangaroo in Austerlia, monkey in Nepal. It sucks to be different animals. Any way, it is only one life you have, so do want you want to do without hampering others.
