Apart from this whole bullshit pseudo intellectual debate going about Hinduism in the below thread, the main point is that Nepal will always be a Hindu Nation.

"To seperate Hinduism from Nepal is to kill the Nepali identity" Shiv Sena Nepal

We will not let manipulative opportunists like Prachanda establish their own communistic religion based on their own faith:

Without a common symbols to solidify our identity there is no question of us being a nation. We don't want to be a cultureless and identyless society that is floating without family values like in the West.

To think that religion and progress are exclusive and opposed is not based on any concrete evidence. There are many countries that have integrated both. Man cannot avoid worship. Every culture worships something, whether that be materialism (corporate brands) or Britanny Spears. I say, let's keep our Hindu identity.

To the extent that the Hindu symbols of Nepal represent essential traits and values of a Nepali, they help us be more unique, more supportive and more creative as Nepali Hindus. Any nation devoid of a common identity, lacking objects that point to the past or direct toward the future, tends to be sterile. Nations like Nepal already rich in meangingful symbols of Hinduism makes it easier for citizens  to know who they are and therefore what they should do. We need a supportive symbolic ecology in Nepal so that we can feel safe, drop our defenses, and go on with the tasks of life. That is why we should not make any radical changes. It is one radical change after another than has brought us to the mess that we are in right now. We need to find commonality in our roots. We still have one of the richest cultures in the world. Let us not undermine the work done by our ancestors over hundreds and thousands of years in one generation.

I for one would never accept Hindu Nation.Under so called Hindu nation, Buddhist Community suffered for over 200 years. Every law, system and promotion has favoured Hindu and manipulated others. So going back does not make sense and you are DAY DREAMING.

It is better to face the reality.

Nepal, as a Hindu nation always had room for all other religions and denominations. Why should it be any different now?
The funny thing is that religion has never been a problem in Nepal because Hinduism in Nepal has been very broad and all encompassing. In fact, in Nepal, we have a unique blend of Hindo-Buddhism. Even right now in my house I am listening to this beautiful chant of 'Om Mani Padme Hum' that I bought at a music store in Boudha. I see no conflict between Buddhism and Hinduism.
The fact that my father is the head of house hold and that we defer to his authority is not a source of conflict in my house. This Western style, 'no one can have any more or less than other' is ridiculous. This is why America is so 'sue-happy' where people are suing for every little thing. People are constantly comparing and way too over-sensitive. Let's focus on the big picture folks. Let's not bring a conflict where there never was one.

If Hindu nation really have a room for other religions, why does it feel insecure by the declaration of secular nation?

Homey, I am a social conservative and not really fond of political correctness but I think Nepal should remain a secular state. I believe in the libertarian thought that individual freedom should be above all other form of freedom. As an anology, I do not want the state to tell me what meat I am allowed to consume. If Hinduism is so encompassing then it should have no problem in Nepal being a secular state.

Now, I understand why you want a Hindu nation. Thanks for clearification.

Your following sentence cleared everything: "The fact that my father is the head of house hold and that we defer to his authority is not a source of conflict in my house."

So you want the hinduism to be authority for all other religions in Nepal, don't you?

Period.

Well Paasa, perhaps some fathers are cold hearted dictators who are absolute authorities in their family. My experience in my family has been a little different.

In my family, the rest of the family has gotten our surname from him. In that way, the identity of the family comes from the history of the family. But it doesn't stop us expressing our individuality and expressing ourselves in our individual way. I don't see an advantage in being 'sterile and identiless.' I used to see the merits of the liberal perspective. But I have hung out with way too many liberals in the States to see what that extreme looks like. I'm too disillusioned with it to have a romantic view of it. The further you get away from your cultural roots, the more you become a 'floater.'

I still feel that having a figure-head king with no power would not have been a bad thing. What's done is done. But there was no reason to get rid of the moniker of a 'Hindu Nepal' from cultural perspective or from a tourism perspective. I don't think any religious group was oppressed or offended by it. Of course now that we've removed it, putting it back, everyone will feign offence.

ITSCA, it's people like you who thought that you would never be bowing down to a leader like Prachanda. And look today, everyone who never thought they would bow down to a leader like Prachanda, are kissing his feet. Out of fear, many of those people who called him a terrorist yesterday, they do not dare look directly into his eyes today. So 'never say never,' my friend.
All it takes is an ideology, determination and the sympathy of the masses. There are two ideologies in Nepal that have both that determination and the sympathy of the masses. One is the religion of communism. The other is the religion of Hinduism.

In fact, if you want to talk science and logic, Hinduism has a lot more solid logic backing in psychology and science than communism or liberalism does.

As far as confict goes, we have seen clearly that if we were to do a little mathematical formula and calculate # of conflicts divided by years in power, then the years of secularism has produced far more conflict than years when Nepal was declared a Hindu nation.

And Sonoma, if you have a wish to see Nepal be called Hindustan, feel free to make the proposal. Me, I'm perfectly happy with my Nepal being called Nepal.

I do not believe communisiam.  My family members are also victime of Maoist. They boms in my home on 2058 Falgun. Read the news about it on any nepali news paper. i was out of Nepal. I do not have sampathy for them. I do not believe they will do any good things in nepali nither other political partys.

But we should be agree with them some of the things what they had done in nepal. Like removed, Monarcy decleared cecular  nation, braking dawn cast barriaer, making more representive on parliamant ect.

I do not know why you are sepnding your time on sucha controversis things( Riligion)

For me riligion is a right we should have right to choose it. I,m proud to be called Nepali but not Hindus. Any bodys riligion should not be declered by His birth. Do you things Prachand is better then All-kaida and Taliban? may be Taluban is better atlist they do not kill Taliban, but So called Hindu is killing Hindu. Please think about it 3 time

 Good Luck

Many people are now converting to other religions because they see that vedic Hinduism does not teach Truths. While others are simply too confuse with many Gods within One religion term as Hinduism. And caste system exist within vedic teachings hence the essence of
Hinduism is slowly dying out.

Your thread of  "That Nepal will always be a Hindu Nation" will only succeed if Nepal goes back to be followers of Original Hindu Religion and Practices which can be label as Kirat Hindusim.
Origin religion of Hinduism is religion of native tribes.
In another word, the ideology is that Nepal must go back to be followers of Kirat Hinduism and
not be Vedic Hindu followers.
Kirat Hindusim is casteless, simple and basically is of nature worshiping in which Paruhang(Siva)
and Summina(Uma) are considered Lord of Kiratas.
I have highlighted some evident and reasons from ancient texts (Vedic literature) and through scholars, foreign as well as Indian/Nepali that religion of Hindu and practices existed long before the Rig-Veda(the oldest Indian text) was constructed in the thread call "The Origin of Hindu Religion"

Link
 http://www.sajha.com/sajha/html/OpenThread.cfm?forum=2&ThreadID=71141

If Nepal is to follow Kirat Hinduism instead of Vedic Hinduism, it brings two essence.

1. Reviving the religion of native tribes.
2. the glory of the caste less Nepal again.

This no doubt surely answer your call to "That Nepal will always be a Hindu Nation" but different from
Indian influence vedic Hinduism and hence preserving national identity.

ITSCA asked:

Do you things Prachand is better then All-kaida and Taliban? may be Taluban is better atlist they do not kill Taliban, but So called Hindu is killing Hindu. Please think about it 3 time

Perhaps you are bringing up Alqaeda and Taliban to show the example of violence. Don't be naive ITSCA. Wake up to the way of the world. Where is there no violence in this world? Who makes a living without doing some violence to another person? The fact that you compete for a job somewhere means that you are denying someone else of a job. His family is starving, but you don't care, you got your job. The fact is that if you were not working there, his family would not starve. But are you willing to give up that job position so that someone else can have the job? Are you willing to do no violence?

So violence is happening in this world on many scales. Who is to say that one level of violence is greater or lesser than another level of violence? Who is the judge? Alqaeda is fighting for a cause just like Prachanda. What has Alqaeda done that Prachanda hasn't? They are both people willing to die for ideologies that they are fighting for. Any form of belief is a form of religion. The other day I heard that one of the judges on Indian Idol declared the show Indian Idol to be a dharm, a religion, because there were so many viewers watching. People like you take the word 'religion' too seriously. Any belief is a religion. In that way, everyone is religious because no one lives without a belief.

LISTEN TO THIS FANATIC LUNETIC CALLED HOMEJI !! HA HA HA

Homeji,"Without a common symbols to solidify our identity there is no question of us being a nation. We don't want to be a cultureless and identyless society that is floating without family values like in the West."

What if you are not a hindu MORON ? You are going to force them to join you and your Lunetic frens ?  Look at all the ethnic groups in Nepal that are not Hindu pea for brain. They have sustained their way of life since the existance of Nepal as a country.  So your argument of losing our culture and identity does not hold water(the Sherpas, Gurungs, Magars, Newars, Limbus etc etc)  .

Nepal as a country needs to move forward not backwards you IDIOT.
