ONE SHOULD UNDERSTAND THE SUCCESS OF JANA Aandolan is due to non political people.  This damn parties were dying till Civil Society gave the life to revolt.  Girija is far worse than Gyane. Look at his past. He caused all the problem after 2046.  Fu... kept Ganeshman and KP Bhattarai aside to rule the party by himself.  I was reading his autobiography, the fu.. were  Khate before 2046 How could they earn so much money after then.  Now you have Sujata. She became minister only because she is fu... daughter of Girija. Period.

I wish Army take bold step to fuc.. these good for nothing parties. It looks like NEPAL is  in a path of disintegration, disaster and civil war. Time is precious. And these leadres don't care anything ahead of themself.

Sujata=== Paras

 Girija==Gyane

And Prachanda Makune  are power hungry vultures. I bet Nepal/ Terai will be part of India within next century if China does not object. And China won't object because it has its own greater china issue. Nepal will sudffer hyper inflation and will be unable to run the country. There will be more lawlessness as police/politician will handshake with criminals for money.

Cry for Nepal.

That said, it looks like we Sajhabasiharu are a poison without snake and a moss without stone, rather than vice versa ;-)

Shirish,

Girija has money oodles of money and his main source of money is India. Most probably Girija is a RAW agent - and that may be the one and only reason why he comes to power again and again and again despite failing the people again and again and again.

And I don't see why one should be fan of that lucky bastard who always played dirty politics?Isn't that the guy who started politics of chair?Wasn''t that lucky bastard the first PM (majority)after Janadolan? And what this lucky khate bastard does is kill UML cadres.Wasn't this lucky bastard whose era was one of the most corrupted era in Nepal history?Wasn't this the lucky bastard when Maoist rebellion took form?Wasn't his reign that Nepal got so much International Aid but all went to his family's pocket? And now when he is about to die. Most hated personality suddenly becomes a hero. This is forgetful nature of Nepalese.and His Indian ties plays a major luck to bring this bastard in lime light.Wasn't CA suppose to be 1 year ago?But what does this bastard do ?expand temporary cabinets , makes his  daughter minister.

Ya he is Lucky But He remains a BASTARD.

Shirish,

Please don't compare the Koiralas with the Gandhi dynasty or Bhutto dynasty - how many of Koiralas have attained martyrdom? How many were/are Jawaharlal Nehru? Did any Koirala build Nepal? Nay, they are the root cause of our problem - starting from B.P. Koirala to now G. P. Koirala.

How much public sympathy do the Koiralas have? Gandhi family are the most powerful family of India because the people of India somehow love them. Have you seen how the common people get emotional when they see or talk about Priyanka and Rahul - in Priyanka they see the image of Indira and in Rahul the image of his father? Ditto with Benajir - they saw in her the image of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto despite her failures and now the same is happening with Bilawal. But, nobody gets emotional when they see Sujata and say oh! she is the daughter of our great leader Girija. Girija himself was in wilderness for a long time and by the time he became the PM he was in his late sixties and his daughter well above 40 years when she landed all of a sudden from Germany to capture the state machinery.

Moreover, Kim Il Sung and Saddam Hussien were the sole power-centers of  their respective countries for decades and decades so you cannot compare Giriaj with them.

I think Girija accomplished two goals this time. Sujata, Girija’s heir apparent, needed experience as minister albeit she has been a super minister there. Girija as well as his sycophants might have thought Sujata’ tenure as minister will position her as a formidable candidate to claim higher and bigger post within the party and in the government during the days and months ahead.

Girija’s achieved other goal by pleasing those who gave him prime minister chair this time and the ones who supported him to stay in the power in the past too. If Baburam is Indian intelligence’ main man in Nepal, one cannot overlook Sitaula- the home minister who has been facing lots of wraths within the party lately and his most visible bete-noire is none other than Ms Sujata Koirala. Her allegations have been problem for the minister, and Girija is well aware of it. Girija is also well aware of the fact that those who gave him prime ministerial chair will be unhappy if Situala cannot work tense-free for the holly mission- the mission to cut Nepal into pieces. So Girija might have made this point before his bosses and got her into the cabinet.

For many of us it is another news to talk about...few might relish on it...for ordinary folks in Nepal it hardly makes any sense.

my personal view btw

Sirish,

i hope you know the Sandlewood case of Sujata right?? If she is grabbing resources while she can right now, what can we expect of her if she is now officially in the government?? I am not talking of Girija....Sujata is my concern here. I think if Giraja had to give a chair to his relative..there is a Sekhar Koirala who i think is son of B.P. Koirala who is far better than Sujata. What do u think about that???

Poon-hill,

Shekhar is not BP Koirala's son - he is the son of  BP's brother late Keshav Koirala (BP's brother) and late Nona. Shasanka Koirala is the son of BP Koirala. Till 3-4 years ago they were not in the political scene. Shekhar Koirala is more in the political scene and Shasanka is more into drinks and girls (sura-sundari), so we don't get to hear about him often.

Frankly, I don't think both Shekar and Shasanka are capable: - they must be already in their late fifities and early fifties respectively and they have not proved their mettle yet. Both have been catapulted because they are Koiralas and not because of their capabilities. I have heard both of them speak in TV and read their interviews - they are very inarticulate and lacking in knowledge. However, they may still be better than Sujata.

Sure...but she is compelled to do these things to support and raise money for the party and cadres.

somewhere in Sajha I asked/posted for how to run a political party in Nepal without corruption. NOBODY, NOBODY could come up with a satisfactory answer.

So my conclusion was: IT's OK to be corrupt to run a political entity in a country like Nepal.

On top of that, now the elections are coming and 1 million for each samsads are not enough. My guestimate is 100 million at least for each candidate. Sujata has to raise the money to support these candidates and put herself in the queue for PMship.

NB: Nepali Congress has no official bank account. Sujata mostly controlls it.

Well, the problem as I see it as, even though the 8 parties are supposedly "democratic", they do not practice "democracy" within their organizations. I do not know about either the Indian case (read Nehru/Gandhi) or the Pakistani case (read Bhutto), but in the US (for those of you following the primaries) however much you disagree with the policies and governance of Bush, he was democratically elected. Bush had to go thorugh a gruelling primary (or caucus) in each of the fifty-two states before he could even contest the elections. We do not have anything of that nature in any of our parties be it NC, UML or the Maoists. Why are the Koiralas, Nepals or Dahals even leaders of those parties? They never in their life had to contest a fair election within their organization to get a party ticket (nomination) to contest elections. If one were to think of holding something similar to a primary within the NC, I bet Sujata would have lost it (or maybe have won it) but at any event, she would have more legitimacy than she has now. Qualifications aside, to be a legitimate leader, you need the permission (or at least a semblance of) the people who are being led. Isn't that the essence of democracy? At least the way I understand it.

Kundale,

I agree with your opinion.

I had three things in my mind

1. Girija consulted with other political parties to appoint Sujata and they had no objections.

2. Girija consulted with other political parties to appoint Sujata and they had onjections to her appointment. Girija went ahead due to pressure from Sujata and appointed her anyway.

3. Girija did not consult any one as if he is not doing any wrong doing.

Since, the oppositions, intellectuals and other political entities did not raise (up to now) anything against the appointments, who are we to oppose her. We are not in the main stream politics, we have not contributed much to the country's development and political developments etc?

Shirish,

I always clicked on your postings, and I was a kind of fan of your postings, but the following notes are troubling  me whether I was alright with my earlier observations.

Shirish: So my conclusion was: IT's OK to be corrupt to run a political entity in a country like Nepal.

Shirish:  "If Rape is inevitable, you better enjoy it."

These two sentences appear in two different postings, and therefore, you are consistent.

My personal understanding is that if you know that you are raping someone, and if you know that it is immoral, illegal, and inhuman to rape, you should not be doing it, no matter what condition prevails, but die or surrender your life. Well, you can call it adarsha, but thats where I live. The way you defended Sujata using these two sentences, is far away from my expectations from you. I regret to read the way you defended. I am personally disappointed.

GP

So, Do you have any means/way to run a political organization without being corrupt ? Has there been any political parties that has a clean record in Nepal ?

The second quote is dependent on subjective interpretation. The key word in invevitable, which means unavoidable, coming, inescapable. So if it is bound to happen and can not be avoided then what do you do?

Also, you are right with your interpretation. In context to Sujata, it has happened and GP can not change it, the so called intellectual groups can not change it, the political parties can not change it. Alternatively, you just accept it and enjoy just like the rape that was inevitable.
