Reponse to Amazing...

Here is what happen to me and some suggestion to prevent it.

I used to work in gas station in fortworth, Tx and yeah night shift. Texas is weird place always quite at night. I went to throw away garbage and these 3 black dudes were waiting for me with offcourse Guns. I was like damn scared for a minute thinking its a ghost but turn out to be scarier than that ....Guns on the head " Don't make any sound"..First and most bad thing happen they took my wallet..sucks..then offcourse went inside the gas station, open up the counter and took a cash and they left .."shg"...call the cops and stuff then always those blah blah blah..
Here is the few caution to take...if you're working at the gas station specially night shift...Don't ever think what happen to me won't happen to you...Chances is really high that you gonna get rob at some point...Never carry expensive stuff with you...CASH big no no..and yeah don't carry lots of credit cards either ...you will confused which one to cancel first...
Do want the robber tells you...Don't try to act smart like in hindi movies...
In my case open up the counter took a cash ...I even showed them where other cash is located.." My life was on the line"..
Don't be rude with robber..be nice to them..Give them suggestion that can take with them like cigarrette...Might sound like a joke..but it helps to save your life....
Here is the main thing..Always remember your store address and always remember which way robber are headed...and offcourse type of car, color of car...
Dial 911 after they left..and tell the operator ROBBERs are still here...Else operator starts asking you lots of bullshit question...and just incase if they have taken you wallet and you have credit card..don't cancel it right away..Give it like 10 -15 min..cops will showed up by that time..then call your credit cards and start cancelling your card..Let the credit card know what the situation is and ask them where is the last place card was used...Robber will and always will used your card right away...So you will be able to direct cops which way they are going...
final suggestion...AVOID WORKING IN GAS STATION SPECIALLY NIGHT SHIFTS

I am very sorry about this news my condolences for his family in this sad moment.

I live in a north state and I have had a bad experience too, is not only in southern states, but I was lucky there were a few nepalese and mexican friends from college and these black guys could not steal anything from me.

For his family, I can't express with words how I'm feeling, I'm with you in this pain... my codolences.

I am sad that Shekar is not here with us anymore. However, can we take this incident as a lesson and stop younge Shekars from Nepal coming in F1 status with no option to left than to work in gastations, restaurants and places where they get tortured and have to risk their life, JUST TO PAY THIER OUT OF STATE TUTION COST?
why we always look at the symptom, why not cure the disease? why not letting Nepali youngesters know that life as an undergrad is not easy. They can come for masters if they want to further their horizon.

Oh damn!
My heartfelt condolence. May his soul rest in peace and may god grant his family and friends strength to bear this grave loss.

It bothers me to know that his body is being cremated here in U.S and his parents can not even see his one last time. May be it is good that they do not see him in that state, but oftentimes not seeing makes it even harder to let go.

This is a no win situation here, but could we do something in whatever capacity we can to send his body back home. Maybe I am not being pragmatic here, but I do not know.

We can chip in if Nepalese Society in Texas requires some funding to arrange his body to be send to Nepal, where he belongs. Please let us know.

My empathy to the family. God bless his soul.

May god grant peace to Shekhar's soul

I live in Arlington too,but i just got this news. This time of year is very bad for gas station clerks. Christmas and New year is the most hard hit time of the year. Almost 6 out of 10 guys working in dallas-ft.worth area gas-stations have been robbed at gun point. I was robbed once and a cousin of mine was robbed thrice at gun point. It seems like the other dude working with Shekhar complicated the things and the cash register not opening was real bad luck on his part.

May god grant peace to Shekhar's soul

there is so little time but why not let his parents or at least one person from his family join the funeralin dallas. or plan B can be---- let us at least send his astu ( Ash) back home. I know it is possible.

So sad and very unfortunate. I have been thinking about him ever since this morning. very young with lots of dream.

May God bless his soul and his family!!

Dalli, Sad but true Shekar is gone. But there are thousands of young kids in Nepal who knowingly or unknowingly want to come to states for undergrad thinking they will survive just like others. They might end up like Shekar or end up having thier dreams and career killed. They do not know about the hardship, illegal jobs, and furious out of tution costs, let alone the job complication after graduation.
why don't you do something to cure the disease. why don't you do somethign to stop those kids from coming to work such odd jobs, may it be estes park Co, Ocean city MD, or dallas TX, i see younge Nepali kids working hard just so they can pay their tution. And i am not talknig about few. I am talking about hundreds may be thousands of us. Please Visit OCean city ,MD or estes park in summer.

On the other hand, i see Indian students comeing here on thier masters and enjoying assistanceship after a semester and having fun while pursuing thier dreams. And guess who gets the jobs after graduation, most indians do. Our younge brothers working hard in such places have hard time pursuing thier dreams because they are focused on making money to pay thier living and tution.
I think information is the most valuable asset. And someone needs to show the real pic of students to Nepali youngesters so they don't have to work for graveyard shift in thier early 20s when they should be having fun with life.
