Was looking for cheap air ticket to travel back home and found this airlines. The round trip costs only 700-800. but I don't know about their service. Has anyone flown from China Southern airlines recently? Please share your experience. Give me some idea where we can find cheap air ticket to Nepal around Jan or Feb.

sounds like $400 savings with china airlines.

What kind of service or experience that would offset $400 in savings are you looking for?

Seat configuration?
Smiley faces of Air attendants?
Extra drinks?
5 Star quality food?

If saving $400 is more important than any of the above...just hop in it and save the money.

If services are more important then get on Korean or Singapore Airlines for the cost of $400.

The decision making looks pretty simple to me.

I have just booked the flight with them; I heard that their service is pretty good for the price.
The only drawback is that the layover on the return flight is like 20 hours; so I am thinking of getting a visa and go around Guangzhou to kill time! :)

@dkhanal,
I have taken the china southern airlines during last dasai...the airlines is good..no problem at all. the food, seats and other services are like other airlines, did not face any problem at all. During the layover time you will get a nice hotel with nice bed and free breakfast. there is no places to visit in Guangzhou..as the hotel is like 1 hr far from the airport by bus..so it would be nice to just sleep at the hotel. are you flying from LA?

@npli_girl,
Thank you. I am flying from NY/JFK. Wouldn't you need a visa to go out of the immigration and to the hotel? I have a Nepali PP.

@npli_girl,
Thanks for the visa info. I didnt book the hotel, I guess I will have to call the airlines and try my luck. I was excited that I got a cheap tix, I didn't think about the hotel; rather thought of getting the visa and go around the city! :)

Cheers!

@dkhanal,
I think airlines will provide the hotel for free because of long transit time. just would like to know how did you get the ticket, online or through travel agency?

I have heard everyone who has transit through Gonzaou will get the hotel for free and that's like 1 hour away. I won't bother to travel if my transit hours is less than 8 hours considering all the hassles of taking visa, security checkins etc.. Only complaint which I heard from some of my friends is that people in the plane is not civilized. You can see some chinese people going directly to the back of the plane kitchen and eat there. Other than that I haven't heard any bad experience till yet.
You can use any online website such as priceline, justly, expedia, kayak to book it.
Also google has it's own flight reservation site..called https://www.google.com/flights/. Try everything and chose whichever gives you the cheap price.

My cousin flew on China Southern last month. He had an extremely short layover of 1.5 hrs and his experience was quite pleasant. You can't go wrong with it.

I used China Southern for Nepal trip 2 years ago and i did not feel any problem. I had more than 15 hours transit in Guanzhou and they gave me option of going to hotel. I was more than happy to be out and see arround the Guanzhou as it was whole day there, flight to KTM was in late evening. I got 24 hours visa in 1 minute (its free) and a chinese guy took me to hotel (he did not know single English word). Hotel was pretty good with free lunch. Slept for a while and then took shower and went out with my little camera. It was quite hot ( It more south than Tarai in Nepal, it was arround September 15), but still walked whole day around the city. The city feels pretty dirty and ugly until you reach Kathmandu.

If you are getting out in Gauanzhou, better have some Chinese money which you can use to eat in resturent or even you can buy things there.

I think (forgot) I took only carry on bags and check in is lot easier than in USA.

When i came back to USA, chinese friends asked me, you did not get whores knocking your doors (in hotel). I was surprised Gaunzhou was famous for food and girls ( I just walked outside whole day so did not get anything like that), so if you want get prepared.

I will certainly will go through Zaunzhou next time as well and if possible i will try to get longer transit as well.

Hello All,

Trying to book a flight for December. Could you please share information regarding baggage? Is it 2 luggage 23 kg (50lbs) per passenger. I looked at their website and could not get specific information.

Their price is cheaper as of now compared to other airlines.

Hoping to hear back soon with a response.

Thank You,

Based on the ticket price like 700 , thats the very good deal, Even if you have to stand and travel like in nepali bus, its still worth it.
As for the place, seat configuration is pretty tight, tv/screen is like u hv to share , if you are nearsighted then its a prob, they provide hotels , pick up and drop off, and give free snacks at hotel(wht u can expect, apple, a small cake and a bread)
U cna buy chinese buffe at 10 dollars all you can eat, dont expect american chinese food, its a pure chinese food, u can drink as much u want, a good hotel though, u can take shower and sleep for couple of hours
watch chinese show in the tv
