The winning notification is sent out in mail sometime from March to June. If you do not check you mails and do not have a name in your mailbox, you are out of luck even if you were a winner.

They WON"T contact you through emails/ phone or any other methods except than the sluggish postal mails.

I am doing AOS and already send $375.00 and even received the receipt back. As I want to know will I be interviewed before sept if not then what happens. I haven't done my medical and police report and by when I need those done and I have to send it when i send my I-485 form when my visa is available.

Nayanepalibabu,

CP is simple Just follow the instructions in 1st letter package I think you need to send  the completed forms DS 230 and DSP 122 to DOS (Fill able Forms can be downloaded from DOS web site) and wait for you number to go current, After you send the forms make sure to call them after few weeks and ask if the've received your forms. You will get a 2nd letter as soon as your number goes current, in the 2nd letter you will be provided with the date and time for you interview in US embassy Ktm.Plan to reach kathmandu  atleast a month before the interview ......for medical check ups and updated police report, birth certificates and other required docs( as u know that nepal bandh can happen with out notice so getting thes done in timely manner is important)) lets hope that the number moves fast for 2011 as in my case ie. Yr. 2009 as u see Yr 2010 is not going so fast but I think Asia will go All current in only in Aug or Sept this year.

Meantime, Start working on your documents the reqd. docs are:

  1. 1st and 2nd notification letters from the Department of State.

  2. Birth Certificates

  3. Passports ()

  4. Police Clearances from nepal and any other country you've lived for more than 6month duration (not required from USA)

  5. Marriage Certificate (if married)

  6. Proof  of financial support (Sponsor letter, Bank statement)

  7. University degrees and official transcripts (proof of high school completion)

  8. Translations ( of the docs that r not in English)

Hey Raju,
Sorry , couldn't reply on time, I found the question, I didn't confirm it any where, I got a brown envelope with the letter and a bar code in another page with my case number and a sticker, That's all. I am hoping that is the the genuine DV letter. what about you Raju ? Sorry for the misunderstanding dude :)

Hi Naya Nepali Babu,

I received the same brown envelope with their letter, barcode sheet and return address label. They start notifying winners by mail as early as March/April. Starting July 1st, one can check (with the confirmation number) to see if you won, I hope this helps whoever was asking this question.

Thanks!

Hey Raju, i don't think there is a day to send ds-230 and dsp 122 take your time with that, I am thinking about going to Nepal next summer and doing CP, I think CP is safer, since my case number is 27k (which is high sadly), so I am not thinking about AOS at all, what is your case number Raju ?

One kind advice to raju is that you take a risk in hiring a lawyer in DV case, as they usually don't handle much DV cases and do not know much about it. I paid and asked a reputable lawyer questions about DV, he told me what I could find on forums/websites easily, and he honestly told me that DV is not what he/his firm handle on a day to day basis...what a waste of money! But if you do go to a lawyer, make sure you hire a reputable one, like Murthy...consultation only is $250 and if you hire them it is $2500 plus other fees which comes around to be 3K lawyer fees only, at one point I thought of going with a lawyer too but it is not a hard process at all, not giving you any false hopes but I have seen people with numbers higher than yours get GC. I don't know what your situation is, but have you thought about CP? All the best.

For those doing CP, the process is pretty much outlined in the DOS website, make sure to read step 2, 3, 4:

http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/visa_4759.html

Once you send the forms to KCC with intent to do CP, they will send you a notification letter (NL2 or second letter, when your visa number becomes current) 6-8 weeks before your interview date at the US Embassy, make sure you make enough time to get the medicals done, get police reports, and other documents ready.

I hope this helps.

I am planning to meet a lawyer before i send ds-230 and dsp 122 and the problem is he is in Houston and i can't meet him  until May 24th, Is there any problem associated with sending those forms late like until the end of May?
